Arma 3
(SOLVED) is it possible to have 2 instances of arma 3 running?
in my dedicated server i need to test stuff that requires 2 people, i was wondering if it was at all possible for me to have 2 instances of arma 3 running at the same time so i could alternate between them via different monitors?

No. You can only have one copy running per Steam account. To do what you want you would need two Steam accounts with their own copies of ArmA III.

UPDATE: I'm wrong, again ;-). See below...

Yes you can, just adjust your server.cfg.
You have to add loopback = true; and disable duplicate kick (kickduplicate=0;)

I always test with a dedicated server and two client instances running on the same machine.

But the loopback only works on the dev version, afaik.

Well, I also do the same with the stable version.

only known issue ive ran into testing my own server, Is that the dedicated server must be the first instance of arma, and the 2nd can be your client

actually thats not what im doing lol. i have 2 arma3.exe's opened up, one on my main monitor and one on my secondary, then i open up my dedicated server to host seperatly without arma being needed. this way im able to test stuff with *2* people/just me to simulate having multiple people so i can test anything i need. the only problem i have is when i click anywhere on my secondary monitor with my mouse, arma on my primary monitor freezes until i click anywhere on my primary monitor, and vise versa. im unsure how to fix this but im sure it has something to do with directX. and yes they were in windowed mode.

What happens to me is the dedicated server turns into a private lan server, if its the 2nd instance (and same user name)

did u make and apply a different profile maybe for each " Fake User"?
arma might be having a hard time identifying 3 of the same user profiles.
That or it might even be a issue with IP address's conflicting

no, im literally not having any problems, its just a minor inconvinece. think of it as if you alt tab arma and then tab back in but your still able to see the screen. theres no crashing or anything, the screen just pauses until your active on that specific monitor. for instance if i have my 2 characters facing each other, then i click on my second monitor(call it monitor b) and move my character 10 steps to the left(on monitor b). if i look at monitor a, the character from monitor B is still standing infront of him, however if i then click on monitor A anywhere, then it shows the character from monitor b 10 steps to the left as if he teleported. did that make sense? pretty much it just pauses the monitor that im not active on

You have to change the parameter in the launcher. In the authors tab, there is a "no pause" option - tick it.

Then losing window focus won't pause the window.
