4790k@4.6GHz, GTX980 Classified, 27" 1440p monitor and runs Arma 3 great, where ever I am and in any situation, full server or not.
Graphic settings are nearly maxed, some you dont even need switched on.

it is not a k it is 4770 without k

The 4770k turbo boosts to 3.9ghz. Just use your money and OC that cpu. It really would be a waste of money for the amount of gain you will get out of the 4790k or 6700k from what you have now.

Okay I see
well still you have a great CPU

I'm using a 4690k and people with the 4790k or 6700k don't get all that much more than myself in Arma3. Upgrade when the next gen Intel chips come out in 2017.

There no value in those upgrade, waste money in my opinion, spend some money on a good cooler, read guide on overclocking and overclock your 4770 instead.

can i OC my 4770 that is not a 4770 k is 4770 simple

Not worth it for that upgrade. I think you can force it to run at turbo speed but overclocking is difficult. Someone may know better than me though.

no you cant, and you wont notice a single difference giong from a 4770 to a 4790k unless you overclocked the crap out of it, and even then the difference is minimal.

if i remember, the i7 4770 and the i7 4790k are almost the same. the i7 4790k is the same as the i7 4770k but has a better die for transfering heat and has a higher overclovk and boost clock and better power. i have a i7 4790k stock speeds and a gtx 970 and i get around 30-60 fps depending on the server on MP.

ok 4770 runs at 3.4 and 4790k runs at 4ghz and u can overcloc more
i was asking

using any intel on stock speed is no good because there is so much gain once you hit the 4.4-4.5ghz. and arma definately needs that even if you have a 6600k. Coming to your question, you can't oc non-k cpu. You can increase baseclock but that is only for 100-150mhz gain and it can fry other components (gpu and all even a hdd).

do you know your motherboard model - chipset? if you have a crap mobo, replacing cpu with a K won't help much.

I think you should dig into your mobo - ram a little because that cpu shouldn't perform bad. Arma really needs best tweaking, even if you have bad ram timings you get crap fps. And you can increase bclk to gain few mhz more, lets say 3600mhz. you should optimize everything at bios.
