Special Purpose Helmet
It seems NVG ant thermal optics were removed from Special Purpose helmets. Dear devs, please, get them back. They were awesome. Balance is a thing for server admins to keep themselves, so forget it and get these features back, please. I want a Predator mask in a new campaign badly!

I'm fairly certain that the missing NVG function is just a bug. I can't imagine BI would choose to remove the function being that the main purpose of the helmet is for spec ops which very frequently take place at night. All this to say that it will probably be fixed in the next update.

It'd be a relief!

They could also be messing with a new of new things that lead to the feature being in an useable state. For example the earlier verison could have just been a placeholder and it is too much effort to leave in the old version that will be phased out regardless. FOr example there might be some conflict with normal NVGs that need to get fixed.

Removed items are nothing new to beta stage game content. If we are lucky things will be fixed up and better then every, if we aren't then it will become yet another thing lost in the pile of ideas that never panned out. You know sort of like the Blackfoot in real life.

Ah, I still miss the pentagon-shaped Varsuk barrel from alpha.

Was just using mine and it works but, nvg in first person and only in third person with the thermal. It can be turned off by server startup setting too. As I've been on a few servers with it working and then not. You might do the verifiy the cache files if it's happening on all servers you join.

Why do people think that Special forces IRL would want to use a combined helmet and NVG/IR optics in which damage to the latter would cause removal of the helmet while fumbling with a chinstrap or would cause the need to find an on/off button during normal use vs just knocking them upward with the back of their off-hand, and would leave them without NVG capability should they be required to fight without their helmets with e.g. their NVG on a headstrap (there are IRL tactical situations at night for taking the decision before engagement for everyone NOT to have their helmet on when your foe may be in similar uniform %/or would otherwise have a similar silhouette)
