Black Screen and freezeing!
Hi,

For some unknown reason when I now try and launch ARAM 3 I'm constantly getting a black screen and freezeing (the game will not even close via task manager) that refuses to close.

I have updated my graphics drivers, reinstalled the game, verifiyed the games integrity and made sure all appropriate patches are installed.

Can somebody please help me work around this issues...

Thanks, Nathan.

I had the same problem not so long ago,

Mine was caused by a faulty Ram slot,

I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong with my hardware.

ARM3 is not the most stable of games...

So I've fixed the black screen issues and now there are even more issues.

This game is broken and completely unstable...

Constant crashes with little or no explanation...

It is not Arma3 that is the problem. You are having PC issues related to running the game. Here are some things you can do to help with solving the problem.
1. Run dxdiag.exe it will check your hardware for correct drivers for video, sound, and mouse. Check for errors if you find any reinstall the DX that comes with Arma3 from here.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma 3\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010
You can also check out this guide with most of the things you need to check, change to run Arma3 or any game better.

If you start Arma3 you can click on options and run the arma3 troubleshooting report. Which will help with figuring out why its not running for you. Put it on google docs or someplace we can dl it and see whats up with arma3. Don't give up yet! :steamhappy:

This is very true, I hope you get it sorted :).. keep trying to get back to task manager if you can, there should be an error code pop up..

I had to alt tab out 8-10 times before finally getting back to desktop,

My error code was: visual driver has stoped working and has recovered,

Thought it was my graphic card, but like I said above it was my ram at fault,I wouldt rule out hardware failure thou,

Try this to rule out memory errors. What type of pc do you have?
Make Model home built or retail OS videocard MB

1. Diagnosing memory problems on your computer
2. Run dxdiag.exe make log file so we can read it.
3. Start Arma3 in "Safe Mode" to see if it loads without HW acceleration
You can run the Arma 3 Launcher in Safe Mode by pressing and holding Ctrl + Shift before running the Launcher and releasing them once the Launcher starts.

Or you can start the launcher with the -safemode parameter.

In Safe Mode, you can disable HW acceleration for the Launcher (you will be asked when entering Safe Mode - or via the checkbox on the Launcher's Options page).

In Safe Mode, you can disable HW acceleration for the Launcher (you will be asked when entering Safe Mode - or via the checkbox on the Launcher's Options page).

You can start the launcher with -nohwa parameter to switch it automatically into software rendering mode.

To run the Memory Diagnostics Tool manually

Open Memory Diagnostics Tool by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type Memory, and then click Diagnose your computer's memory problems.‌ Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Choose when to run the tool.

If its your game then do this Steam-Arma3-right click and go to properties - local files- check integrity of game cache files. If your launcher is not opening you need to install these files too.
Install the files at the top of this page.

Well Nathan, you're not the only one with this problem. Having this for a few days as well. Just like you I can't escape with task manager. Quite annoying to constantly restart your pc.
