How to play own custom map with friend

Hello,
I created a map in the editor and now I want to play it with my friend. But no matter how I create the server and how he tries to join it always fails.
Over Steam join the server wont respond and over the server browser he doesnt even find my server.

Why does this not work in Arma? Please help me

Firstly just to check did you export the map to MP in the editor?

Some internet providers struggle to allow port forwarding throguh routers it can be a long process to allow connections.

If you are playing with less then 10 people you can use a program called Hamachi to create a game over LAN which people can connect to who also have Hamachi.

Yes of course I exported it to the MP. I can play the map no problem on the server its just that no one else can join me.

I only have this problem in Arma. For example I also play Supreme Commander where you also host a "server" and someone can join you. There it works perfectly fine and I never had to change any firewall or router settings.

We already tried Hamachi, but this also didn't seem to work.

I googled my problem more than a few times and I often read something about ports but every site tells me something else.

Does it work for you? What exactly was your process in setting up a server and joining?

I had the same problem. I was able to host servers in many other games and ArmA wouldnt let anyone connect.

Hamachi worked for me.
Make sure you are all connected to a hamachi network.
Load Arma 3.
Go to multiplayer and create new LAN game.
Leave the port as is.
Choose your map and pick a slot and wait.

Get your friends to connect via direct connect in the multiplayer section using the IPv4 adress which is provided by hamachi next to the network status.

Make sure hamachi isnt blocked by your firewall or windows defender.

You will either have to port forward or use hammachi.
