No, the devs pulled it because they were afraid of getting a cease and desist from Disney thanks to a Star Trek fan film producer being sued for copyright infringement. The official announcement from Blue Harvest (the dev team behind Imperial Assault):

I regret to advise that we have decided to cancel all future development on the Imperial Assault mod effective immediately. The mod will remain on steam workshop and other formal channels until Sunday 10th January 2016. After which it will be removed permanently.

This decision has been made in light of the recent lawsuit against the Star Trek Axanar fan film by CBS who are suing the producer for copyright infringement. We have also taken into consideration the increasing amount of dialogue online asserting that this mod as a better alternative to the Battlefront game. It has never been our intention to flaunt or abuse the Star Wars IP and we have no desire to compete with Star Wars Battlefront on any level.

We understand this will be a great disappointment to the many supporters of this mod and you can be rest assured we did not take this decision lightly.

This is not the end for the Blue Harvest team. We have now switched our attention to working on an original concept. This is something we have discussed doing for some time and are very excited what it will bring. More information will be provided in due course. Be sure to continue to follow us on our social channels to find out when.

Whilst I will always be disappointed for not finishing what we started I feel a great satisfaction for what we have achieved to date. Thank you all for your fantastic support.
