Arma 4 will prob. already have a tons of mods because of Reforger when it launches.
folk still play A2.
an Arma3 with a new graphics engine based on vulkan of course, and not one line of code touched everywherelse, meaning, players of arma3 and "arma4" can play connected to the same server And keep using ALL the mods that are already outhere
I think this should :
Save time to BI devs: concentrating on one thing , the thing that many complain about: graphics quality and FPS
Save time to modders: keep rafining actual great mods
Save some bucks to actual customers so they dont have to pay right away 100€
A move like this, that noone did before should attract attention : "new players" ...
and many of them like Linux/unix/android/and many other OS, since Vulkan runs on every platform outthere: this is not the case of directX neither OpenGL ;)
(pssst windows will use a linux kernel on their desktop sooner or later, dont tell anyone)
We are all winner in this scenario.
This of course under the reserve of what I know about arma.
Fine by me, I'm learning...
ARMA3 have serious limitations. It's impossible to simulate any bigger scenarios because FPS will just drop to the bottom, the AI is bad if someone want to look for singleplayer scenarios, overral performance and utilizing CPU is the problem, graphics are getting dated but that's not what I care for. Optics look much better and realistic in reforger already. And we can go on for hours.
So I'm glad hearing that some talented groups providing us free fun already jump the ship to enjoy new engine and explore what they can do with it. However ARMA3 as stated before, will be around for a while.
