Annoying bug

So commonly what happens to me when I spend 2 to 3 hours in the editor setting up a big mission for my self to enjoy, AI vs AI or me commanding AI against AI to take over a region, I won't save anything, and then when I go to start scenario, only when I don't save, arma 3 freezes.

In this scenario, alt+tabbing causes arma 3 to go to a black window, and naturally I don't have the task manager configured to always be on top. Therefore there is no way that I know of to close arma because right clicking the icon on the task bar and then close all tabs does nothing. Arma 3 black screen just blocks my whole screen unyieldingly.

Why does Arma 3 hate me? In other words, why is it with big missions, arma 3 just poops out. Then how is it I can close the damn thing when it decides to act up?

I find that simply logging out and then cancelling once the prompt says A3 closed works. Though it will also close down like half your PC, so it's a bit of a "I REALLY don't want to run a full restart right now" scenario.

Other than that... Seems like something is wrong. I do recommend you seek the official discord for further troubleshooting assistance.

They will probably ask if you have any mods, and what your PC is, so having those answers at the ready would be handy.

Fullscreen windowed mode!

Not a terrible suggestion, though this behaviour is still highly irregular, and I would recommend this be used as a short-term solution, with effort being made for one that would be more long-term.

Fullscreen windowed mode is my go to mode for a few reasons not just to fix that bug, You can alt tab quicker which is very handy if you run servers and you need to use both monitors alot for maintenance, Also you can alt tab and the game will still be visible on your main screen while you use your second and it don't pause the image, Or use another application over the top of your game screen. You can also use FireFox's PIP video player over the top of your game so you can multitask like a boss lol

I could never go back to Full screen mode after having all these benefit

The black screen bug from Alt tabbing seems to effect a lot of people( of couse not everyone) and as far as i know no one has found the cause/fix for Fullscreen mode.

Still seeing the game in the background when I ALT TAB is somewhat undesirable, though the primary concern I have with the issue above is the fact I do not observe these problems. Don't ALT TAB when loading, only do it when in-game or in Eden (in-game, tap M before you do to apply a "safety" feature to your weapon, in case game registers the click on return) and when it does crash, accept the fact you're essentially playing roulette.

However, as I said, I don't see crashing nearly as much (and I ALT TAB a lot when editing - music is important, yo) which is why I think something actually went somewhat wrong.

You can make it disappear with one click if needed, Definitely not a problem, more optional benefit lol, Tho if you had a second screen you would be looking at that more when you Alt tab so you can keep an eye on the game will you work.

At a guess it's more likely a hardware driver related thing that effected user's have in common. As it would happen at anytime randomly when you alt tabbed not just loading up the game or a mission. I would be helping someone on one of our servers go to alt tab to change something on Notepad++ and blame randomly a black screen lockout.

TBH tho I've not played in Fullscreen mode for years now due to the added benefits that Fullscreen mode might even be now fixed (for me|) lol

I can alt tab just fine, just when arma 3 poops out, then alt tabbing keeps arma 3 over my computer making it unusable beyond restarting...
