But if it's not.
Chances are you are running at combat pace and / or with your weapon raised, this is taken straight from the wiki and assumes default control setting, see if this does anything for you.
"Combat pace is a move stance with weapon raised permanently to the shoulder. It trades movement speed for situational awareness and faster reaction time. This is particularly useful in urban areas. Use [C] to toggle combat pace on and off.
Combat pace and lowered weapon stance are two independent body poses. Try switching to combat pace [C], lowering your weapon [2xLeft Ctrl] and raising it back [2xLeft Ctrl]. You will return to combat pace."
The game doesn’t handle dynamic equipment very well. For eg you may drop your assault rifle and pickup an AT weapon or SAW, knowing there’s a IFV ahead etc. your encumbered, regardless and the AI squad leader pays no attention to who’s carrying what and why and they will just amble off into the distance. Only when you lead a squad does it become tolerable.
Maintain your stamina better by not taking unnecessary things like NVGs or carrying too many magazines. At this point in the campaign, you only need an RCO for better clarity and max 4-5 mags depending on how well you aim.
I also highly doubt that they were running ahead of you during the gauntlet in the forest. From experience, half of your fireteam gets wiped out most of the time since they often get suppressed by the AAF, leaving just Kerry and Lacey to finish the mission by the end of it (since he's invincible for story reasons).
He isn't scripted to "beat" Kerry at reaching the waypoint. You can easily outrun him and even get Kerry killed first by any of the other APERS Mines if you really wanted to just for fun.
Really? Can Kerry die at the first mine that Adams hits?
IIRC, only the Grenadier died during the multiple engagements. The Rifleman, Autorifleman, and Combat Life Saver were all still alive.
I play Arma2 much more. Plus it’s handling of ballistics is way better. Simply put the enemy drop with a shot or two. I’m not buying into the body armour as I’m more tactical than the game thinks players are. So I shoot them in the legs/arms instead and it still doesn’t drop them or kill them. Like I’m talking SAW territory (how many of those rounds are hitting both legs….) yes there’s mods, but it shouldn’t be that bad to have to mod it out.
But in Arma 2, or even good old fashioned OFP, it’s a balanced game and tons more fun.
I mean I’ve finished Arma3 several times and put in a ton of hours, but going back after a hiatus to Arma2 is a breath of fresh air.
The main thing is to have ‘fun’. If it doesn’t, well…
