unfortunately i do remember armaholic, i wish it would die out. i think the only people who use it now are literal boomers, there is no good reason to use it unless you are forced to at gunpoint

Only time i've found it useful for is when a mod gets pulled for what ever reason from the workshop but you can still get the files from there, other than that it's obsolete. last time i looked that wanted to charge you to use the filter lol

I'm in the same boat. That download rate makes me feel like I'm back in 2002. Great as a workshop backup though.

Something I'd like to keep in my memories. Used to be great, but over time it became a cesspool and irrelevant.

Authors kept hating on the workshop because we did not always have such a good, streamlined implementation.

Legitimately, there used to be a time where having ArmA on Steam was considered a major pain in the arse.

However, it can not be disputed that the tables have turned completely, and now ArmAholic is completely rendered obsolete by our current workshop implementation. It's still OK for legacy mods, but that's about it.

So yes. A brilliant site that decreased in quality and was subsequently rendered obsolete by superior competition.

And self-sabotaged with a tiered subscriber model that would make EA execs green with envy.

Quite SO bad?

I'm sorry, I haven't really used it in literal years. I knew it deteriorated into a subscriber system, but not that it went quite so far...

Don't forget them claiming that Workshop was IP thieves' paradise while themselves ripping mods from steam without permission and reuploading them to their site.

Ah yes, when its 2016 but your Download rate is <1MB / second
Truely a superior way of hosting mods

The power of 400kb/s.

Good thing people are porting Armaholic-exclusives to the Steam Workshop.

I think it's split into three tiers.
1. Unregistered users get like 400kb/s download. Better than dial-up, but you'll need to overnight a huge mod like Unsung.
2. Registered users, which are faster but still capped.
3. Subscribers, which get the full speed.

Imagine having to overnight UNSUNG when you can just go full speed off Steam and have it in thirty minutes, give or take.
