got me excited for a moment op, i was really hoping that tencent bought BI so BI would be forced to finally update their games properly but nooooo. smh

Shame, I really liked the Arma games. Guess I'll have to find something else to spend my money on.

According to rumors they bought like a small percent stake in BI, while BI themselves deny that it happened.

Stop spreading rumors OP

No BI themselves announced it today. Go read their blog.

LOL HOLY CRAP! HAHAHAHA! broooo I thought OP was pulling crap, my apologies to the OP - HAHAHA!

Quote from their blog: "Bohemia Interactive a.s. ("Bohemia Interactive "), a leading games developer in Czechia is announcing today that Tencent Holding ("Tencent ") has agreed to acquire a minority stake in the company. Following the strategic investment, Bohemia Interactive will continue to operate independently"

LOL

BOHEMIA "Literally anything for money" INTERACTIVE LADIES AND GENTLEMEN HAHAHA

Can't wait for the next "Strategic investment" to just take the entire company hahahaha! Maybe we'll actually see more competent game management from them IF that were to happen. The irony!

This news really sucks , was really looking forward to Arma 4. But I have been steering away from buying games backed by Tencent. I don't like how they have been buying into everything and just don't trust them. Tencent says that they will let devs do what they usually do without input but who really knows what goes on behind the scenes. When someone owns stock in something there has to be investor input and direction so that they make more money, when money is involved it always affects something , good or mostly bad.

I'd have a more optimistic look on this specific instance. Usually I disagree with Tencent buying companies but with how horrible Bohemia interactive is? it would be impressive if Tencent somehow makes them even worse than now. I really doubt this will have any negative effects on Arma 4 - in fact, it may be positive if Tencent starts putting pressure on BI to actually do something

No one in there right might trusts tencent.

tencent and positive are antonyms

Very concerned about this. Tencent supports censorship. This is not what I believed Bohemia Interactive was about.

Tencent didn't need a majority share to convince Ubisoft to censor Siege (although it backfired and they dropped it once the people playing the game found out and raged)

What a slap in the face.

Personally, I am very excited for the Arma 4 "Defend Three Georges Dam" Campaign, where you play as the protagonist tragic-hero "Grand Admiral Xi Pingpong Miller" and stop the western invaders from killing those poor, poor factory workers!

You guys do know, what the word "minority" means in this context, right?

Aka. they don't have a final say on anything.

As long as Tencent doesn't own 51% of BI shares, it isn't taken over.

Maybe this is just a move to get some China money to develop an amazing Arma 4 and when it becomes a huge success, they buy these shares back and show Xi Jiping the finger by developing a DLC, where we play as ROC Soldiers kicking some Red Chinese Ass.

I mean come on, look at Apex, there are literally Red Chinese in it as bad guys :D
