Antistasi: Where is the aircraft?

So i am playing a game of this with a couple of friends. We have been looking forward to getting aircraft but we have had trouble finding it.
First off we managed to disable a ch-67 huron which landed itself next to the flag the the seaport near Kavala. i garaged it like any other vehicle and it seemed to work just fine i got a prompting and it disappeared, but after that i never could find it in the garage. We have taken an airfield but i can't find it there either.
Second we have attacked and conquered said airfield twice so far with no aircraft anywhere. i flew over with the civilian helicopter to scout before the second attack and there were helicopters parked next to the runway, but there was nothing but a couple HEMMIT trucks and an ammo box when we conquered it later.
Is there something i need to do to make sure they spawn? I flew past a couple other airfields with no luck.

Vehicles only spawn when you get close to the area, then despawn when going away (for performance). I'm not entirely sure how it works with vanilla antistasi, but I presume it's the same with modded.
