I did that and was slaughtered in a few minutes, didn't even see what hit me, couldn't get vehicles...lost interest.
On top of that, the faction recognition scheme SUCKS. Why doesn't it just let me put the 'unsupported' stuff for the North Korean RHS faction into Infantry or just ignore what ain't supported and just run with it?
I don't just want to play vanilla factions.
Badda Bing Badda Boom, 2 AI commanders are going at it with almost any faction mod I want in under 2 minutes.
I just wanted to try out a system that simulates larger-scale whole island major military power conflicts that last for hours of brutality. I don't do insurgency, since I'd make whole villages disappear if the natives dared to hide terrorists in their midst.
It shouldn't be this hard to program Alive or similar systems.
I find I have to play about for a bit and work out where the alive modules spawn troops, and if thay fails I just go for a CUST obj and put in what units I need.
It's not to difficult to learn the script needed to muck about with alive, just a couple hours of playing about, and well worth doing of you like having random firefights and stuffs going on.
I really don't want to go through making whole pbo.
Also, regarding maps and Military Objectives placement, I thought putting down some military structures from Eden Editor would let me put Military objectives anywhere I wanted, but I don't think Alive understood.
found an already existing faction thay was close to what I wanted, just EDITED that faction with the changes I wanted, and used that.
Round about way of doing it, but it worked. The us army woodland camo really really didnt work on tanoa 🤣
No no alive doesn't go off structures but map indexing.
The video tutorial I saw, Spyder dude is speaking low volume but at warp speed, especially at the end when he's done showing you the ORBAT editing bit. And I'm not only one who didn't get the 'and NOW WHAT' final part to make the faction work in your game, (unless you are making whole pbo faction which I've never done).
TL;DR:
I'm asking do I have to do that Export 2 Clipboard juggle to use the ORBAT editted faction, or is there some other way ALIVE will make it show up to play in my own mission?
that lets you paste in your copied edited pbo,
then use any pbo tool to repack that folder into pbo format.
Rename it what you want....@ww3andmefaction.
And then just move @ww3andme to your arma 3 mods folder.
Then bobs you're aunties uncle, twice removed. Job done 😁
