16gb Ram DDR4 3000mhz Min
1060 6gb min but 1070 and above would be better
Motherboard that costs £130+ and you should be good
You might wanna go for a dual CPU.
If money is not an issue.
gpu can be anything, even a 5 year old 7850 will do the trick, or something like gtx 1050ti for 1080p will do the job.
so in short, spend money to cpu, ram, motherboard, cooler. get a well balanced mix of these.
All parts stated above will work great. I have an i5 7600k(3.8GHz stock) unlocked(not yet OC), the 1050ti(4G OC dual fan edition) and 8G HyperX DDR4 RAM(for now). But like Rocky said, having an estimate of cash in hand, could help in figuring out what would be good for your pricerange.
Keep in mind though my friend, do NOT expect to be blasting 80 frames in game. SP, yea no issue. I'm capable at some points. But in MP, not so much. Bad scripting, bad server hosts, too many mods, how many people in game...all takes a toll.
This is a game that uses a VERY old engine(also heavily based on CPU usage), and is based off of single core performance. So the new i9, will still use 1 core. And get the same as eeeeeeverybody else.
Grab the specs stated, a good cooling system and you should be good man.
Also, you have all those hours, and been playing on a laptop? g'dam dude, props :) And I wrote all that before knowing, so you know how the game works. So my bad for that.
well you can blast with 80fps especially with that cpu. go over 4.5ghz-ish speeds and diffrence will be day and night.
and I tried not to touch this again but...."old engine" just got updated week ago, how come it is old? you sound like a total dork here, sorry but I have to enlighten you.
calculations taking place in arma, even the ballistics let alone vast battlefield that you can take off with a jet 20km away and aid your people on the ground while they are laser designating target; simply doesnt EXIST ON ANY OTHER COMPUTER PROGRAM. don't let the neat animations on battlefield or any other game fool you, none of them can do what arma does not even by a long shot so, the issue is CPU cartelism that intel forcing upon consumer masses who keeps buying the same technology for years and doesn't even question. Yeah.
I let the master give you some clue
"'Oh just thread your application.' Anyone that says that is basically an idiot, not appreciating the problems." -john carmack
Intel is the single thread king, ~30% faster than the best AMD right now
Single thread speed is what you need for arma.
AMD Ryzen 5 1600 is still good allround though. AMD should keep revising this 6 core to increase single thread perf.
check the benchmark results in the comments to get an idea of actual arma performance
Also Arma 3 uses 1 thread per core so try to get a CPU with an equal amount of threads and cores to make sure that the computer is most optimized for Arma 3.
I do blast ~80 frames as it stands now. But only on SP. I don't play MP, cause I hate the toxicity. I would like to see somebody that can play a full pop server(100), with mods, scripts, full on battles in a city, get 80 frames. I have been reading forums for quite some time, and not once have I seen proof of this. I've seen people with multi GPU setups(1080's), super clocked liquid cooled CPU's, and way better rigs than I(and way more knowledge), that have issues getting high frames for this game.
If you are that person, then you are one of the very, VERY few. And very lucky. :)
And I actually just OC last night to just 4.0GHz. Never done it before. I'm no pro.
I have no idea what all that story was about. Calculations and CPU cartelism? What? Are you comparing this game to Battlefield? Where did that come from?
Just because the engine got updated, doesn't mean it uses more than one core. Nor does it mean it's new. They update games that came out 15 years ago...does that mean they are new?
I mean, the update from x32 to x64(last year?) was a HUGE difference. But I think that's all it's going to get. I'm no pro or anything, but I do believe in order to make it use all cores, it probably has to be re done from the ground up. And I don't think they would do that. But I could be wrong, I am human.
And I have no clue who your 'master' is. So I have no clue what that quote is about.
I don't mind being enlightened and taught. Just don't be a do.uche about it. :)
