In-Game Server Browser
What is it with Arma's in-game server browser. The first time I load the game and search for servers it works great. Over 1000 servers popular very quickly. Then I either back out of a game, or refresh the server list, or go back to the main menu and try and search again and the whole thing just breaks. Refreshing gives me only a couple servers. It seems like it continues to do this no matter what unless I restart the game. Is this a bug or is there a way around it aside from not refreshing the list

bumping this....exactly the same issue. i was suspecting my isp blocking the connection because of the pings to multiple servers, like BT traffic but I ruled that out.

this is also an issue with the launcher server browser....but closing and opening it does not seem to resolve it.

some routers can't handle the amount of servers loaded via in game/launcher and steam and acts like it has ddos the router for a couple mins, the only way round this is to use A3Launcher or buy a better router!

Steam settings -> In-Game -> In-game server browser:max pings -> set it to 250-1000 and try again.

he said, and i confirm, sometimes, it works just fine throwing up hundreds of servers, sometimes just a handful. and why would anybody want 300+ ping servers?

@sgtsmash you might be right, at least my router is a piece of junk thank came with the ISP...i do have a few nice routers laying about so ill try that and report back.

The steam setting defines the how many pings are sent per minute. Not a ping time to a server.

I've had 3 routers in the last few years, and all of them have had the same problem. The ping setting has fixed them all.
didnt quite read your post all the way, I was thinking of 250-1000 MS ping Latency, not amount of Pings. Hopefully that will fix it. Cheers

Set a limit to you steam download speed
Sttings -> Downloads -> Limit Bandwidth
Mine is set to 10 MB/s, works great. I bet it works on higher also
I'm not quite sure what causes this issue, but I know refreshing the server list shuts off the internet entierly. Just watch out for that.
This is caused by the modem, and although I can't tell exactly the problem, it seems like it only happens when my PC is connected to my modem via cable, if it's just connected wirelessly, it seems to work fine (for me).

I thought that's exactly what we were talking about...?
Set your pings/minute to a lower value and see if your internet stays alive.
