I find an actual flight stick to be a bit over kill for ArmA unless you're only using AFM (I don't simply because I play DCS for advanced helo mechanics). The stick I have is a thrustmaster HOTAS (Hands On Throttle And Stick), on Amazon here:

https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-T-Flight-Hotas-X-Flight-Stick/dp/B001CXYMFS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498617976&sr=8-1&keywords=thrustmaster+HOTAS

It's a good stick, but it doesn't come with pedals, which are not a must if you can control the helicopter without them. Out of the two I would say that the pedals are a better investment, as they can be used for driving vehicles too.

For learning to fly, Dslyecxi made quite a few guides on it, everything from landing and autorotation to attacking with littlebirds. The playlist is here:

He also has videos flying several different helicopters on his channel, Apaches, Black Sharks, Chinooks, Black Hawks. Look around and you'll find them.

Also go to servers like Invade and Annex and ferry people in the helicopters, but do make it known that you're a new pilot so they expect things like rough landings and crashes.

I just use a Logitech 3D pro. It's a pretty cheap entry level joystick, but it gets the job done. Arma's flight model isn't too realistic, so you don't need to worry honestly about things like pedals or rudders as actual physical attachments. You might enjoy the thrustmaster a bit more as it has that built in throttle, but it's preference. The throttle on the 3D is just a little knob which is a little easier to flip around for your collective when flying, but if you want realism go for that Thrustmaster above.

Definitely follow the above advice and check out Dslyecxi. He's one of the premiere pilots on Arma.

If you want probably the most highly rated entry-level HOTAS system, I'd go with the Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS.

I have the same joystick but just learning to use it on A3 helis. I am a master pilot with M&KB but so far the joystick is proving much more difficult. Especially landing. Any tips? I am using the advanced flight model.

It's not exactly the most weightful or realistic joystick when it comes to responsiveness. I changed my sensitivity so I don't have to jerk the joystick around like a madman to get good landings. Lower the deadzone a bit too. That's what I did and I can land a hummingbird on a 5 foot roof.
