Mk.I EMR vs. SPAR-17
Im a long range marksman usually fighting at distances 300-1100m and am looking for a reliable 7.62mm to help me do my job....

(the .338 MAR-10 is unavaliable on some servers to the marksman class (reserved for snipers) and weighs a TON wich aint good for a ammo hoarder (wich i am))

I played around in VA and narrowed my choice down to theese 2 guns:

- The Mk.I EMR (a.k.a. the SSG 556)
- SPAR-17 (a.k.a. HK-417)

And now i cant decide in wich one is more suited for such a role (wich one is better for long range sniping)

I hope you guys can help me with this....

can't answer your question, but you could check for yourself with the bullet tracer thing if you haven't already

either get the single player cheat menu or the bullet tracing scenario from the workshop, i recomend the latter as it spawns you on a map with some targets and a virtual arsenal box so it's faster to use

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=189421090

it will draw a line on the path your bullets travel with the colour of the line indicating bullet speed. you should be able to compare accuracy, bullet drop, bullet speed just before impact, bullet speed after penetrating the target, ...

The only problem is that the M14 isnt accurate enough to hit a person reliably at 1000m (1km) and i engage quite a lot at this range (my top range for confident engagement with ANY 7.62mm is 1.1km max)

Pretty sure marksman rifles are meant to be effective just under 1km, not past it, that's for sniper rifles.

While that is true i still want to be able to hit a person-sized target at that range
SPAR-17 is mostly fake I thought, loosely based on some AR type rifle but not real. It looks stupid so I never use it, barrel doesn't look heavy enough for what it's meant to be, given it's barrel length to begin with, also the handguard looks stupid and the rifle looks like a musket. They should have just put in an M110/Mk11 look-alike. SPAR-16 looks cool though I think.

It's actually based on the HK G28 which the US army has adopted

Well I would personally go for the mk1 then. I've always found the mk1 to be a reliable gun unlike the mar-10. I haven't played around with the spar-17 much but it does seem like a reliable weapon, but I'm unsure of it's range. For example, I didn't think much of the spar-16S but now I think it's a very good gun.

EDIT: In fact, it feels as if the spar-17 is just CTRG's equivalent to the mk-1.

not sure if you are joking but the SPAR-17 is based off of the HK417, and the SPAR-16 is based off of the HK416.
lol

Oh well it looks stupid, and it's nothing special I bet. Knights Armament is better. :3

i disagree and the armed assault page also disagrees with you
the mk14 and m14 are just as accurate and have just as good of range as all the other 7.62X51 rifles. also the spar 16 is the hk 416, the spar 17 is the hk 417.
Squid the army found the knights armament to be too unreliable and replaced it with the g28, hk417 ps the hk417 and g28 are the same damn thing its just a diferant designation.
