Make stick behave like a real heli cyclic
Hello,

in the real world, helicopter sticks are not self centering. Therefore, if you push your stick forward, the nose will go down. If you now pull the stick back to center, the nose will rise to it's former position.

Is there any way, to set up ARMA's stick contoll like this? DCS does it that way, and this feels way better.

Like in DCS you could use trim for simulating the fixed stick positions. Otherwise, I heard of flightsimmers removing there HOTAS spring to get that effect.

Removing the spring would not help at all. Because i have to do negative movement, to get the nose back up. I have to pull the stick behind the center position, to bring the nose up.
What i want, is that the nose goes up, as soon as i start to "release"

Could you be a little more specific on what you mean? I cannot for the life of me make sense of what you wrote.

Well, do you use advanced flight model? Normal behavior is if you push stick, nose goes down, you release stick, nose goes up. Maybe your settings aren`t correct? Double binded something?

Not sure what you're talking about. What in the hell is "negative movement?" Helicopters aren't designed to handle negative g-forces too good, if any for that matter.

Arma's cyclic is not self centering. The cyclic in game just reacts to what your IRL joystick is doing. If you want a more realistic feel, reduce/remove any sort of deadzone in your joystick and throttle. If you want to go full immersion, and do what Pushilex recommended by removing any tension or springs in your joystick. Or fly with a mouse and keyboard. For what it's worth, Arma already does what you speak of, just not very good

Play around with your throttle/collective. If you're flying at 90% throttle and you're flying level, you're going to be gaining altitude because the main rotor is giving you more up than forward. Thats why you nose down a hair when you need to haul ass from point a to point b. You can also play around with trim so that you can keep your bird more parallel to the ground while being able to keep your stick in a more neutral position

Yes, i'm flying with the advanced flight model. But what you describe, is not what happens to me. If i push the stick forward, the nose goes down. If i now let the stick go (and therefore the stick centers itself), the nose keeps in the same position. If i want the nose to rise, i have to pull the stick back (behind it's center position)

I meant negative movement on the stick. The cyclic controlls are bind to the joysticks Y Axis.
Y-axis + for pushing the cylcic down
Y-axis - for pulling back

letting the stick go, seems to not count as Y-axix -.

I just made a quick check. Does it happen to you in every helicopter? Mostly I´m flying the hummingbird, and it shows the typical nose up tendency you would expect. Not as much as DCS Huey, but somehow. Otherwise the huron and mohawk tend to hold their attitude. I never really noticed, as for me the different flight models seemt to be logical, comparing heavy-lift helos to the light transport and attack types.

Thanks for your help.
I fly the hummingbird too (training for koth). If i push the nose down, and let the stick go, the nose keeps exactly where i left it. I have to pull the stick behind the Center position to rise the nose again.

I have that with all heli's

Do you have automatic trim enabled?

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thank you!
I thought this would set the trim just after startup, but it does it the whole time. Now everything works as it should

Glad it worked
