Arma 3

Arma 3 D3D error - dxgi_error_device_removed
Arma 3 randomly crashes and I get a d3d device removed error in no less than 10 - 20 minutes of gameplay.

My computer is an i9 with 32 gb ram and my GPU is an AMD R9 200 Series 4GB

Is there anything that I can do?

I have the latest Directx
I have the latest drivers for my GPU
PC is clean from dust
PSU working fine

GPU is old indeed but for example I can play Battlefield 1 and Star Wars Battlefront 2 or Assassin's Creed Origins with no problem, even getting 60 fps in those games most of the time, temps are around 75 c for the GPU and 50 c for the CPU...

how old is your graphics card, have you wiped it clean from dust ?

is this a new problem or was it like this from the start

also have you tried uninstalling the old drivers before installing the ones ?

Sounds like your classic Arma 3 memory leaks, check your video memory usage as you play

My GPU seems clean, there is no dust in the fans or anything that I can see... Yes it was like that from the start, about a year ago that I build my PC I had this problem and I just couldn't play at all. The GPU is at least 8 years old but in any other game is running just fine, in Star Wars Battlefront 2 with pretty much everything at high I get constant 60 fps, in other games too, but in Arma 3, idk why...

What does memory leak mean? And I'm running MSI Afterburner to check my VRAM and its looking fine if that's what you mean...

Anything that I can do? I remember in my older PC that I had the same GPU (but generally it was an older system, my new PC has everything brand new except from the GPU) and it played just fine...

In case u have not tried this yet, completely uninstall the graphics drivers before reinstalling. i am not too familiar with the underlying technical aspects here, but that it CAN be the source of the issue.

I am neither knowledgable enough on this one, but typically a memory leak is a software side issue. That consideration might point to a faulty game installation, so try checking the file integrity.

Once you have tried all this to no avail, set your video settings to the lowest for everything and disable all other enhancements. But until then I am out of ideas mate

edit: try completely reinstalling DirectX.

Thank you ollz, here's my screen, it crashed like a minute ago again https://imgur.com/21wayJq... I checked my virtual memory from the windows settings and its set by default to 4 GB... But my ram is 32, should I manualy change it to 32 GBs? Like here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lLT95yFFoY

Actualy I just did that and the game still crashed, I'm out of ideas myself

Got it set to like 12K MB. 32GB RAM is far more than enough for Arma 3 mate. The game uses between 4-6GB maximum I believe

And no you do not have to set it to the same amount as RAM. Virtual RAM just additional "pseudo" RAM afaik.

Motherboard doesn't have onboard GPU does it?? I remember seeing issues like this when the Intel HD was left enabled in BIOS?

Also if I may ask are you running Windows through a virtual machine or Arma 3 on 3rd party software through Linux or something of that sort? Or just directly booting Windows the normal way?

11gb for me!

Also windows virtual memory has to be set to 1.5 times the ram you have installed, and no not a "pseudo"! Actually fixes a lot of Arma users video memory leaks!

My mobo is ASUSTeK PRIME Z390-P (LGA1151) and yes I think it does have an onboard GPU... https://imgur.com/a/9VTC27I its in Greek but you can see Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630. Should I check Bios and see if I can dissable it?

Yes I'm running Arma 3 directly through windows 10 then normal way, no virtual machine involved... And also from what I know at least, nothing in my system is overclocked.

11 gb for both initial and max memory or should max be 2 times the initial? Like 22 gb ro something like that?

Yeah Have seen this be an issue with users using the HDMI on board or the game seeing the "onboard GPU"

Depending on the BIOS version it should have an option to Disable the onboard graphics, Link to Manual Below.

If not try and "disable" it in Device Manager and see if that helps!?
Good Luck!

That's actually strange because I would have expected this to pertain mainly to low RAM/VRAM devices

edit: assuming NUKE's PC is not already using a vast amount of these ressources somewhere else. guess im just waddling too far away from my pond here

edit 2: have you allowed Arma 3 in the Firewall settings? Also are you running Anti-Virus software? Try making an exception there or turn it off for the game

hmmm thanks for the suggestions guys, I will come back to you after I done them
also, maybe I should get my GPU to some tecnician to check its integrity, maybe there is something burned in there that other games can't detect? Who knows but I will give it a try
