Arma 3

Contact - Low FPS?
That's weird... I've been playing Arma3 quite a while and I didn't really have any issues: usually I get 40-60fps and my GPU is working at ~99%.

In "Contact" / Lithuana the GPU weirdly sits at about 50% and I only get 28-32 fps??

Is that normal?

I already tried lowering SuperSampling from 150% to 100% and that didn't do anything ('cause the GPU isn't "taxed" anyway...)

Does anyone have any tips on how to improve FPS in this DLC?

Lol, GPU now hit a new low of 30% usage and I'm sitting at ~20fps... what the hell is going on?

arma 3 is horribly optimized. livonia has a lot going on at all times. idk what gpu you're running but it sounds like contact may be making it thermal throttle thus lowering usage? also arma is very processor heavy, so if you;ve got a beefy intel boi try raising your graphics options, i know it sounds counter-intuitive but it'll shift the workload from gpu to cpu and sometimes result in better fps

1080Ti
no thermal or power throttling of any kind :-\
CPU isn't overloaded either, sitting at about 10%

Totally strange

I only know and heard that many ppl have FPS issues with the Contact Campaign.

So I would say we all have to live with that until B.I. improves stuff, but I think this is not going to happen in the next few years.

Its because the lazy idiots who made contact decided to write the entire dlc by running scripts on one core. Instead of properly integrating the logic into the game engine. They just decided to go full lazy and run all the logic through the script component developed for modders.

So unless you can Overclock the crap out of your main core, its gonna run like dog ♥♥♥♥♥.

I played the DLC for 5 minutes, but it took me 3 hours to get through bootcamp in the arma 2 client. I tried to get a refund because I dont support lazy/incompetent game developers, and because of that steam and bohemia tell me im SOL for getting a refund.

Recently upgraded from a i7-920 to a i5-9400, and I get about 15 more fps. What a piece of crap expansion. Im also upgrading my 1060 to a 2060, just waiting for it to come in the mail, but from again what I have researched, it wont matter because its limited by your main cpu core running the user script thread. (this is why changing graphics settings wont give you better fps, graphics dont affect the cpu as much as the gpu in most modern games)

Congrats bohemia, i wont be spending another dime on your products! Ive also unsubscribed from your "newsletter, which was really just ads", about 100 times in the last 3 months, take a hint already.

yeah, its a shame really... I mean it's playable for me; with good fps at least most of the time, but it just sucks, as this campaign is one of the best BI ever made! I'm serious: I totally enjoyed it!

reused dayz assets slapped onto an outdated engine combined with horrendous scripts in the campaign all work together in perfect harmony to deliver an unbearable performance in the contact campaign. just know that it was even worse when it initially launched. one thing you CAN do is get a view distance unlocker mod and then you'd be able to lower the view distance.

Hi there, any news or a Fix for the low FPS in Contact?
butters May 21, 2020 @ 3:34am
unplayable for me. 20-25 fps maximum and it fluctuates a lot. when i turn around it drops to 10-15 fps. its so annoying.

yeah if you want a "fix" (it won't fix the bad scripting obviously lol) get a view distance mod. like.. get "View distance Unlocker" so that it does not forcefully bring your view distance up. That should help quite a bit. The scenario by default increases your view distance to crazy amounts last checked. Other than that, you are out of luck

I was just about to suggest that too

Remember though that the view distance isn't a major issue in all the campaign scenarios and there might be some scripted events which rely on longer view distance.

never heard of that, thanks for the suggestion!
