The M320 has significantly greater range and hits somewhat harder, but it's a bolt-action so you're going to be in some trouble if you're backed into close quarters with the thing - provided that you don't have a backup weapon. The range gap depends on skill, but the best recorded M320 snipes exceed 5,000 meters while it's mostly agreed that the MAR-10 is certainly out of gas by 3,000. This holds little meaning if you're sniping at closer ranges, but the M320 does let you get to the 2,200-2,600 "AI can't hear or see you" sweet spot more easily.

i just played with both for two matches. the versatility is what sells me on the mar-10. easier to move around with, more ammo, etc. i wanted a more traditional bolt action however i cant buy both in koth.

im going to mess around with the mar-10 a bit more before i decide which to purchase. thanks for the feedback

Mar 10 was ten days ago :-P

Jokes aside Mar10 FTW

The MAR-10 is most certainly the better all-purpose gun. The M320 weighs more and the extra punch isn't worth it unless everybody and their dog is using a Carrier Special and you feel the need to hit them hard at long range.

Mar 10 is certainly dated though

I remember back when the DLC came out, a lot of people were die-hard fans of the Cyrus over the MAR-10. The rationale was that there's a range (800-1000, IIRC) at which the Carrier Special can eat a .338 hit but cannot reliably eat a hit from the 9.3x64mm cartridge of the Cyrus. This is a little odd, since .338 Lapua is vastly superior when it comes to piercing armor IRL, but it can likely be chalked up to game balance.

Vanilla: Mar 10 for me and my needs

Modded: either exile's or cup's M107's,They have a good fire rate for something so powerful that you can still use it at closer ranges like the Mar 10.

If we're talking modded, then the M107s are hard to beat unless weight is a major concern.

noted.. and it would be for vanilla. so i guess the mar-10 is the clear winner for me.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who started reading though this and started getting incredibly confused as to why people would be sniping with a grenade launcher...

Real men snipe with pistols.

One benefit of the Lynx over the M320 is that the APDS 12.7x108mm is capable of defeating considerably hardier armor. Furthermore, it comes out the barrel at higher velocity and thus has considerably less travel time. This gets more pronounced with certain mods.

Also all the Russian weapons suck ass.

Use an AT weapon instead etc.

I can carry dozens of rounds of 12.7x108mm. I cannot do the same for proper AT.

They're apples and oranges I thought. Maybe OP meant Lynx vs M320. In which case, M320 because Lynx is not a waste of weight and M320 has more and (I presume lighter) ammo. I never use the Lynx and it looks stupid I think.

But anyway, with MAR-10 vs Cyrus, MAR-10 wins. MAR-10 vs M320, makes no sense, they're for different things. MAR-10 with suppressor is quite useful and looks cooler too than the heavier and less accurate, Cyrus, last I checked.

Also any of them stink for close quarters, have a pistol with the MAR or Cyrus also.

Oh wait, the op mentions something about KoTH. Well I don't care about that mode, good thing it odesn't matter anyway and not specific to it. Oops typo bye.

i understand that the Mar-10 can be viewed as a DMR where as the M320 is a traditional sniper rifle.

i just got into snipping and i have to purchase a weapon and scope so that im not spending 1000k a respawn. so it made me want to choose between to two for a couple of reasons. im only level 34 and so most of the snipers arent available and so i thought those were my two best choices while a lot of snipers in the game at higher levels use the lynx.

i wont be doing any active long range snipping. i will be no further than 1000 meters away and i like to move and roleplay a lot. so i dont tend to play the game with traditional points and what have you. i play with the distinct desire to have a cool snipping experience or flying(whatever role im taking up for that playthrough)

playing with the mar-10 last time i stayed on the outskirts of the city and stayed calm and moved through cover. makes the games much more enjoyable then rushing points for kills and just playing the game for a game.
