MAR-10 vs. Cyrus
I've been playing KOTH quite a bit lately, and i've noticed that the MAR-10 is weaker than the Cyrus, even though the MAR-10 has .338 Lapua rounds, or am I stupid and .338 is actually weaker than 9.8 rounds in general? Because the Cyrus seems to 1 shot nearly every shot, but the Mar-10 only sometimes kills people in one body shot.
EDIT : Im just stupid thanks people

The 9.3 rounds do about 25% more damage than the mar 10, maybe not in reality but this is arma so just roll with it:steamhappy:

In case you didn't know, .338 is 0.338 inches wide. That's how wide the bullet is.

Now, putting .338 into mm makes it 8.6mm.
8.6mm vs 9.3mm.

You see? That's why the MAR-10 is weaker, it actually has a slightly thinner bullet, also could be some things to do with mechanisms, etc, but the bullet is probably the main thing.

If you look at the rounds side by side the 338 is bigger

Longer, but not wider.

I have noticed myself that the .338 has better penetration through walls and stone, especially at angles. But the Cyrus is almost always a 1 shot where as the Mar-10 from my experience is about 50/50 on 1 shotiness.

The 338 also has far less bullet drop than the Cyrus

sweet cringe
From experience the Cyrus is very poor outside 900m for shot placement but have loads of punch, where the mar-10 is more accurate with slightly less stopping power. Exile shows hp damage stats (whatever good they are) and the 9.3mm round does two points more than .338, which usually isn't significant. Given the choice between the two, I'd pick the mar-10.

I prefer the MAR-10 for actual longer range/ sniper type combat- the Cyrus was actually designed in real life in 2006 to be a heavy-hitting urban DMR/ SR rifle optimised for the 6-700m range, which by coincedence makes it VERY effective in the Altis type terrain, chambering in the large round that it is so it can penetrate light cover and body armor more effectively than a normal rifle.

The Cyrus is more effective at closer range or against armored targets, but the slower velocity and less accuracy of the 9.3 means the MAR-10 has better peformance at very long range and is able to take shots from 8-9-1000M better due to the .338 Lapua Magnum chambering. While the Cyrus has a full-automatic option the real life rifle lacks, it's hilariously useless and rapid semi-automatic fire to the target's centre mass is much more useful in the event that you are in urban combat.

In general/ TLDR-
I would take the MAR-10 if I wanted to work as an actual sniper, from longer range, and the damage difference is a non-issue if the OPFOR forces you are fighting are not heavily armored, which means the superior accuracy and range win over the Cyrus.

I would take the Cyrus if I wanted a bit more fluid combat, going from longer range engagements then moving to combat in areas where AR type ranges are possible, such as more heavily forested areas, urban areas or locations without great sightlines, or against OPFOR who wear heavy armor.

if i remember correctly, the velocity of the cyrus' round is about 25-30% faster than the .338
