Arma 3
Night vision too dark
Hi, I'm on the mission "Common Enemy" in the Arma 3 campaign. I'm at the section where I have to kill the CSAT guys pinning miller down. A guy on the radio tells me to go high to get out of the fog to see them better.
I do this but everything is really dark with the night vision on and I can't make out anything apart from walls or a shack when I put my eyes close to the screen.
My brightness and gamma are at 1 and changing them doesn't help. I watched a video on someone doing the same mission, and everything was a lot brighter for them and they could easily make out everything (figures, trees, buildings) from a distance.

Please can someone help me fix this as I think something is wrong here, thank you :)

Did you check the display page?

There's a brightness and gamma slider so you can customize what you see. The game will tell you how to set it if you hover your mouse over it.

EDIT: Ah I was too hasty. You mentioned this doesn't change anything. Use your monitor's brightness settings, this might help for you.

Also, what you see looks normal to me. It seems there's some mist. Tried it in a different scenario?

I watched other peoples playthroughs and as you can see, it's a lot brighter with night vision for them. Yes I tried brightness and gamma. Maybe it's my moniter, but I hope it's not because I want to play like the guy in the video is playing, as it seems a lot better.
You don't use mods do you? I know there's a NVG brightness setting when you use ACE mod. You can adjust brightness with a buttonpress. If everything else fails, this might be a solution for you. No idea if there are alternatives. Try the workshop for that :)

okay, thanks for trying to help anyway :(
Thats how night vision looks if theres fog or no moonlight, it just sucks.
Turn the Nightvision Noise Scale to 0 for crisp image and the Fog Scale to 0 as well. Works perfectly for me :)

little late but here is a fix.
i need to do this everytime i start Arma3.

please follow EVERY step, even if it sounds strange.

-change the display mode to Windowed and back to Fullscreen again.
-now the ingame gamma and brightness sliders will work again, you HAVE TO move 1 of them to make it function.
(you NEED to move a slider, after that you can change it back to default position if you wish but the important part is that only then its working correctly)

___
you can also just Alt+Tab 2x and then move one of the gamma and brightness sliders.
