Arma 3
SLI support?
I came across a fantastic deal for a second gtx 1070. I'm wondering, how does Arma 3 supports SLI? Will I actually see an improvement or will FPS go down like it does with some games?

If I can get like consistent 10fps more I'd be very happy. Sounds like I'd be lucky to even achieve that, ces't dommage. To upgrade the CPU pretty much means I need a new motherboard as well. I'll try my hand at overclocking, thx. I've been avoiding the idea since my friend almost started a fire after overclocking their CPU. If all else fails I can make shmores over the sizzling remains of my PC.

you do not need new mobo to upgrade cpu. whats your chip?
Of the top of my head, Intel 4th Gen i7 something at 3.50 ghz. My motherboard is a 6yr old maximus 4 hero.

For the love of god don't build a PC for this garbage game engine, upgrading when it only ever at best utilises 30% of it anyway is lunacy.
Upgrade when modern games built on modern game engines start to max out your hardware and you still are not getting enough frames.

I think everyone is forgetting something, with SLi you'll be able to bump up the resolution and AA and you can almost double the performance -

That's a opinion. Mine is that Arma 3 is in the top 5 of games I personally enjoy. It would feel like a second Christmas if I could squeeze like an average of 10 FPS more out of the game. Seems like the answer is SLI can't achieve that pipe dream.

My only hope now is one of 3 options. 1. A single new $800 -$1200 GPU. 2, I find a reputable dealer selling a 5yr old 5TH Gen I7 running higher then 3.50ghz. 3, try SLI anyway; since a clearance strix 1070 for $455 CAD before taxes feels like a steal. I could maybe use it as a physics card or try AA SLI, since it seems the game doesn't support proper SLI.
32GB of RAM at 1600 clock speed isn't enough? Latency is like 11, 11, 11, 26/or 32? I forget 😶.

I'm thinking I'll try the overclock boost to max-out my CPU up to 3.90ghz; and try a high latency bridge connection between two strix 1070's.

That should hopefully satiate my FPS lust. This game looks so pretty on my new monitor, I just need it to actually run smoothly now.

ArmA 3 is a good game which i enjoy, but major.pain is right: ArmA 3 engine is garbage and better dont upgrade JUST for this game.

I have Intel7 8086k 6x 4GHz (turboboost 5ghz)
32 GB ram
Nvidia GTX 1080

and i have only good frames when im alone in the editor or if there is little AI, but do not expect that you can have large scale battles in 30 fps if you upgrade to the newest system. YOU WONT!

Depends on the gamemode and how well it was made with performance in mind!

OP try playing Arma on a Gsync monitor, it doesn't actually increase your FPS obviously but it does believe it or not, feel like your running the game at a higher framerate because of how much smoother it feels, for example when my frames go into the 40's now it doesn't actually feel choppy.
Sounds strange i agree but i would urge you to try it out.

I'm considering the upgrade to increase performance for Arma 3, X-plane 11, IL-2 battle of Moscow, Mius-Front, Post-Scriptum (laziest name for a game ever) and kingdom come: Deliverance. So it's just for 6 games, not 1.

I'll see if a DVI G-Sync monitor exists. I don't want to be unplugging my 2 HDMI TV cables every time I want to swap out my bedroom TV for my monitor.

Display ports have that stupid DPCP junk that was always getting in the way of viewing media ripped from DVD's I own. I consider Display ports useless since DRM has only inconvenienced me from watching media I purchased.

So plan A, DVI compatable G-sync. Plan B, 2x strix 1070 SLI. thx for helping with the great indecision crysis of 2019!

Dude i stand by what i say about Gsync making the game (all games) feel smoother no doubt, games feel like they are running at higher Frames but don't go out and spend hundreds on a new fancy Gsync because some random a forum said 'Hey man its good'.
Try and test one for yourself in a shop for example, maybe order from Amazon or other retailer with good returns policy so you can test for yourself ect.
For myself going from a 1080@60hz to a 3440x1440 Gsync @120hz felt like getting a new PC, straight up.
Well my decision is made, plan B.
Turns out no, DVI G-sync isn't a thing. In fact G-sync is only on the useless Display port. So G-sync isn't an option. Time to rock 2x 1070's
