Arma 3

What makes this game unrealistic
I know this isn't completly made to be a milsim, but I still love this game, One problem that's been bugging me is people can take 5 bullets to the legs, Thats INSANE, People should fall down or at least limp after one shot to the legs, I remember watching some youtuber who showed just how many times you could shoot someone in Arma 3 By shooting all the health pools to extremly low amounts, dude survived like 20 bullets, This really ruins the immersion for me.

Yeah it can be crazy.

Caliber of the bullet matters. You can shoot a clip of 9mm bullets in a leg in real life and it still can be non lethal. Thats why cops always try to aim for the legs. Doesn't ACE have a feature of not being able to stand up when wounded?

Under ACE you can still stand but you're going to walk on a limp until you're patched up through either basic supplies or a PAK depending on your specific ACE settings. Also, find a source on the "leg shots always", because there are arteries in your legs that will bleed a damn good lot if struck, making a lot of leg shots impractical not just for putting you down hard and fast, which the FBI's terminal ballistics studies demonstrated can only be done through a hit to the vitals, but also for taking you down nonlethally.

In reality, shot placement matters a lot more than caliber anyway. A 9x19mm to the central nervous system works a lot better than a 9.3x64mm to the shoulder if you want fast (sub 20 second) incapacitation, but in the heat of the moment a larger caliber will always have an edge over smaller ones that only grows larger as shot placement becomes worse. Arma's hitpoint model is admittedly unrealistic and as far as I know satisfies neither the "Hardcore" or the "Realism" camps' wishes.

Although, generally speaking, the entire terminal ballistics model - both against body armor and flesh, leaves much to be desired and is obviously in our specific context a stopgap for modded solutions of superior grade.

No thats not true, with the vanilla damage system thats 3 or 4 bullet max if you got the higher armor protection.
After thousand hour on that game i never see a player or an AI who survived to more than 5 hit if the game is vanilla.

If you need more than 20 bullet to die its because you use mods like ACE or script like AIS with a higher damage tolerance setting.

Thats look like a troll this post

It's because the game is a bit futuristic, meaning better armour for units.

But yeah, in OFP they died after a shot, two, here they die after 5 or so. There was even a vid comparing that but I can't find it now.

Anyways - mod it.

Funny, considering rifle plates from the early 1990s outperform the stuff in Arma dramatically on all counts, but hey, a game is a game. Additionally, you'd think that the game being a bit futuristic would result in the development of better ammunition - but alas, the 5.56x45mm modeled in Arma III is vietnam-era M193. Might explain why it's a little wimpy in the armor and barrier piercing departments.

I do agree however. If you've got a problem with the game - mod it away.

Its not the point that you dont die after being shot in the legs, its just the guys keep going like nothing happened? I don't care when this game is set, Thats insane, I will try ACE3 But I'm Surprised this isnt a default feature in the game such as when your shot in the legs you at least slow down.

I remember a episode of cops where the cops shot this guy dressed up as a ninja running along a banister of a balcony, they shot him 30 something times before he showed signs of being shot and dropped, He was very high on drugs tho lol

Shot placement can and will result in grazes being failure-to-stop shots. I agree, however. The stock model is lacking.

That's why there is mods like ACE for people like you and me that are picky with their medical realism.
