Realistic settings for Game options?
On the skill and precision settings, where is "realstic" Because, I'm trying to find the balance between realism and AI gods. One slider I think should have been presant is "awareness" because their awareness is god-like. In a real firefight a lot of fire can be exchanged and nobody is hit. Where as in this game they are hitting you with assult rifles from 700 yards away when your in full camo proned behind a set of bushes. So I am trying to figure out a fair setting for their accuracy. at .8 they can pretty much nose scope you from 500 yards with a AK-47. Where would you reccomend placing it? And, skill .. What even is that? Skill as in?. Flanking, and team maneuvering? or, what?

He's back for round #3!

When you're configuring the AI, you need to make them emulate competent players, and that's gonna be their skill set to 1.0. That will be the "realistic" way. The AI are stand-ins for people, not interpretations of soldiers.

A lot of people don't get that the AI are a legacy function ported into the game just to stand-in for players. As such, they should emulate players and should be set to emulate players. Thus, they need to be set at maximum skill and with some beefy AI mod like VCOM. This strategy allows you to run lower AI counts, saving you frames, while keeping the overall difficulty high. This strategy also allows you to practice and thus refine tactics built for PVP in PVE. The AI don't know how to respond to mortars or sniping outside of 2.5km, and neither do most players.

I'm glad DUX is back. He can go troll some more.

The "precision" slider in the difficulty settings is a multiplier for aiming accuracy and aiming shake. And the "skill" slider controls the rest of the skills like spotting abilities, decision making and courage.
"Realistic" setting is pretty subjective and dependent on skills set in the mission, gear, and environment. There's no one-size-fits-all value, IMO.

Hey, I personally think the best option is to have them emulate players as much as possible - others wil disagree of course.

Why are you talking to yourself? It's kinda weird. o.O.

For respond to your question about AI, its to reduce the precision around 0.5 or maybe lower, that depend the mission, and put skill around 0.8.

But be carefull if you reduce to much the precision skill the AI can fire 2 mags at 50m without hit.

The problem its the skill setting cause the combat skill and all the spotting variable are in here. So if you put a high skill value the AI can spot an enemy from very far, so that can be problematic with a vehicle with explosive ammo, so they can detect you very far or you cannot really escape an helicopter he will see you if you are under bush or in forest.

The other problem with the skill, you need to put a high number if you want see them use covering, flanking... but the problem you cannot ambush them cause you can be at 400m use a supressor in a bush they will spot you at the first shot, so even if you reduce the precision skill around 0.5 if you engage a fireteam (4 AI) they will detect you really quick and with a precision skill at 0.5, you will be hit 3 sec after the engagement.
The other problem its the courage is inside the skill, so with a High number all the AI are burning heads, so alone against 20 enemy he will don't try to hide or flee he will suicide.

The only way its to edit the subskill in the description.ext, if you edit your own mission.

https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/AI_Sub-skills

So to get a better experience its to reduce the all the spotting, aiming, and courage around 0.5 and put the other one around 0.8.

Be carefull to not enable Super AI, the skill level will be always 1 no matter what was defined in the editor or via this command.

Thanks. I've found that putting the skill at .6 and the precision at .4 seemed like a good mix. Would you disagree?
