The VSS Vintorez is a subsonic weapon, albeit one chambered in the weaker 9x39mm cartridge and not the ASP-1 Kir's 12.7x55mm cartridge. All subsonic weapons have this quality, but not many have the match accuracy of the Kir.
Handy for ambushing fully loaded landing helis with an acog sight, taking pot shots at passing vehicles and, just ambushing in general.
Very useful weapon.
Agreed. I have quite the sigh when people complain the AI is impossible to sneak past. The ASP-1 in combination with a ghillie suit is the way. People just don't use it because you have to absolutely use a rangefinding technique with it.
It would really benefit from rounds with higher ballistic coefficients - longer bullets or heavier bullets will suffice. The ASP-1 Kir looks heavily-built, there's no reason why the otherwise robust 12.7x55mm case cannot be loaded hotter with a heavy and long bullet with some more powder... keep the speed below 300m/s for safety between altitudes and you're boosting the effective range probably up to 850 meters.
With how simple stock Arma's ballistic model is, there's no reason why the ASP-1 Kir cannot be used for 1,000 meter "ghost shots". It is far and away superior to other sniper rifles once you gain a mastery of it for quiet kills and hit-and-run attacks.
Ah, no problem mate.
