Same and yes.
I dont think they are too bad, what are you using to fly, hotas?

To elaborate: The planes (and choppers) in Arma 3 are actually harder to fly than iRL or any proper flightsim, but in a r3tarded way: Like a Formula 1 sim would be harder to drive than RL, but because the car is missing a wheel and pulling a trailer behind it.

The controls are complete garbage, the responses are garbage (not an axis thing, the physics of it), the momentum is garbage, just everything about it is garbage and totally wrong.

I have a HOTAS and flying DCS Black Shark and Huey etc is easy compared to the abominations in Arma 3. Just as an example, the choppers are accelerating WAY TOO MUCH into any given direction with the slightest dip into it. Literally the acceleration of a Formula 1 car or better as soon as you roll or dip the nose, and then way too slow deceleration on the other hand. Both with the "realistic" FM and the simple one.

i have different types of set up's for different sims and games hotas, dual joystick, single joystick i am completely maxed out for different games from when i first started back in the early 90's all the way up to star citizen ... i have even had the privilege of using a couple of times the real deal for flight simulators to train pilots on large transport planes when i worked at a company in avionics here in Canada

yet this company brags that it has the most realistic combat system currently in use on the net as far as I'm concerned they have ZERO credibility with me now thats why i bought the game in the first place i figured all i had to do was figure out the combo that was right for this game with PC and everything would be cherry like every other flight sim game i have played like ED or Star Citizen just to name a few ...with Star Citizen i ended up with dual joystick and i can out fly and out gun most hotas users ..i have tryed every single combo with Arma and it is a complete and total disaster i have given Crash an Burn a completly new meaning LOL

Well, they do have the most realistic combat system, at least in a commercial game, when it comes to infantry combat. At the same time, OFP / Arma was never a flightsim and never advertised as such, either. The way you write and continually bring up "Star Citizen" as an example of a flightsim makes me doubtful of your experience with flightsims though. You should have known that you cannot really expect a very realistic flight model from a "combined arms game" that focuses on infantry combat like the Arma series does since 2001. So if you got it for the planes, I do not understand how that computes with your experience in flightsims for 20 years.

Also, I have no problem flying the choppers or planes in Arma. It's just that the flight model is wrong in a r3tarded and unnecessary way which makes it harder to fly properly than it should be in some places, while gamey in others. It feels very "scripted" and 0 & 1 instead of integral.

+1 on the heartc opinion.

ArmA tries to touch every aspect of combat, including land combat. Its pretty hard to make everything work well together... If you wanna play some flight sims - you should switch to em. ArmA is more about land combat imho. Or atleast helicopters. Only the AI usually plays as air support.
Kiri Otoru May 5, 2018 @ 7:14am
well, AI is notoriusly bad at it too.

just show me what works fine without player's influence in arma
pro tip: you cant
even player influence cant fix everything...
thats sad

I fly with keyboard and that is more than fine, saying it's garbage is a bit OTT
Frozenkhan May 5, 2018 @ 7:32am
Mediocre in comparison but, no one expected anything else.
