M249s with 30 round magazines?

Is it possible to make a version of an M249 that feeds out of a beltbox when using one, and a 30 round box magazine in the other port when using that? I swear i've seen weapons before where the magazine changes depending on which one you have in. (I think the Iron Front or Faces of War thompson does this)

No it's not due to no magazine proxy if I recall correctly.

But I think the thompson in one of the WW2 mods does it, IIRC. But I guess those load the same and go in the same spot on the weapon, so it's different than an M249.

It is possible, NIarms did it with the RPK in the AK pack, when you load a 75rnd drum the weapon is requipped like if you got a new one, but this one with a drum mag instead of the standard banana mag
But add that feature to a weapon, I don't know.

Just checked, and NIArms does what I was looking for!

Here's an M249 fun fact for you, for your help.

An M249 bolt would actually sheer the feed lips off an AR15 magazine, from heat, speed, and roughness.
