why does everybody play LIFE and RPG?

when I bought this game I expected to play a military simulator, but I just found out 95% of the players play arma Life or RPG servers, some play KOTH (which is flying to they city and dying or camping for a while), and few dozens play official zeus PvE servers, yes there are "private" clan military matches but that's not what I wanted, I wanted to play in a player army vs an other player army, why isn't this game played as a military game anymore? why does almost everybody want to do roleplay?

Well, it's a 5 year old game. The hype kinda dies after a bit. Plus the community has been run over by younger people who don't necessarily understand the aspect of the core game. So they need to dumb it down for it to make sence for them.

But it's a sandbox(not a simulator), so anybody has the freedom to do as they please.

But if you do want the army vs. army thing, I think your best bet is to join one of those milsim units. I don't think you would find to much team play if you joined a random server, with nothing but randoms.

Or find some liberation scenario's and get a couple friends to play with.

It's one of the reasons I don't play this much anymore. I just play on the editor now. Less hassle.

this is disappointing, it is a sandbox yes, but it was supposed to be a military sandbox, one time I found an End game 32 players match that somehow had 30 players, I joined it and played about 4 matches, and I had much fun, when I tried to play some life servers I just couldnt do anything but walk around in a dead city and sometimes I saw other people driving cars
I can't understand why people prefer this to a military match, ok, I have few hours, but still, this has no sense

I have played on a few public servers with 30+ people. Always PvE. The problem I experienced was they were always being hacked. Either some jerk would start spawning things everywhere, or there would be some idiot who thinks intentional friendly-fire is funny.

However, when these servers have a competent Admin logged in, then they can be rather enjoyable.

I prefer Arma because it is a military sandbox. I can create my own missions or download campaigns from the Steam Workshop. Because Arma is a military sandbox I have more options than I would have in an enclosed Doom-like military simulation.

Mate, im in a milsim unit its good!! at the same time we have days where we have a laugh and let steam off and again we do have serious events aswell.

Serious mil-sim is too hardcore and time-consuming for the majority of players, hence most play more accessible modes. Also, younger audiences.

If you like only limited TvT, I guess. ArmA has something called "missions" with "objectives", 30 minute walks (admittedly, not too fun but if we want realism...), getting killed and having to actually wait the whole mission if respawning is disabled, dynamic mission editing and so on and so forth. Nevermind mods.

arma doesnt have to be a serious milsim, that unique End game 32 players match I played was extremely far from being serious, we just went together in trucks and cars and engaged the enemies in fights that went to hell, ending up in destroying a town, that was fun

Of course, it's a very adjustable game. I'm just not too surprised when I see most play more casual/accessible modes opposed to those which require a bit more dedication.
