Ryzen Threadripper worth it?
I’m thinking of getting an AMD ryzen threadripper 1950x and wonder how well it fares. Assume I will be using SSD and overclocked ddr4 ram. Right now I have an intel core i7-4770k 3.5ghz and wonder if the threadripper could ever surpass my intel cpu.

Currently, the number of cores/threads is less imporant than the speed of individual cores in ArmA 3. Maybe this will change with Enfusion engine, but when and if the engine switch happens is anyone's guess.

TL;DR: a 8700K clocked at 5 GHz with watercooling is the best deal for ArmA 3 currently.

To what extent of liquid cooling would I need? Will it be so intensive on the computer that I will need to delid the cpu to keep it under control?

It depends from the temps you are hitting, a very good air cooler could also hit a stable 5 GHz or close to that.

man just get a 1700x with decent mobo quit suporting the monoply aka nvidea and intel there half the resion arma runs like ♥♥♥♥ phyx and its opimized for intel becouse you guys keep buying there over prised cpus lol and threadripper is a monster a gamer needs not lol

I believe it’s an engine limitation as to why single-core performance with a quad core setup is so optimal for arma 3. I asked about the performance of the TR1950X because I do want to get into content creation and streaming which the TR1950X excelled at. However, the optimization for these high core count CPUs for Arma 3 are lacking and will most likely never change due to the nature of Real Virtuality 4 and most likely Enfusion won’t have extensive multi-core performance options either. We can only hope Bohemia rework Enfusion for Ryzen users to play Arma 3 without the severe hindrances Ryzen users are experiencing in this game.
