INSTALL THE ARMA 2 first, launch it, then OA, launch it, and maybe then the others. It is tricky to get them all working right, but once done, the game presents a unified game interface with all the DLC and addons, launched from OA as I recall. The ARMA 2 games also tied loosely with Hands on Helicopters and Hands on Hinds for the armchair pilots.
So play order:
Arma 2
Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead
Arma 2: British Armed Forces
Arma 2: Private Military Company (Buggy, but I liked it)
Arma 2: Army of the Czech Republic (Very buggy)
The play order doesn't really matter, they are all independent of each other, though they might refer to earlier games, like vietnam veterans might mention WW2 veterans; no big deal.
Arma 3
I'll also mention, ARMA 2/3 has settings that can humble any computer, I don't care how many $1000s you spent.
What about Arma: Cold War Assault and Arma: Gold Edition?
Should i play them before Arma 2, or between Arma 2 and 3
And what settings exactly should I lower?
I noticed that with high settings in Arma 2, I get very low fps.
Lower visibility, if you go set the range too high you can see 10km into the slideshow. set everything to high and enjoy, this isn´t a game where you will have constant 100fps+ but rather pray for steady 45+
Once you have completed Cold War Assault then try the Arma 2 campaign. Don't skip Cold War Assault just because it looks dated.
Of course, I rate that game as the best one in the series, but the engine of Arma 3 is better.
For an example, in Flashpoint you couldn't run and reload, nor could you swim, very unspecial forces like :D
I am not a futuristic weapon / vehicle fan at all.
