If you end up playing it do the prologue mini campaign first if you care about the background story of the campaign.
And anyone who enjoyed East Wind and the overall story of might also want to check out the FIA mini campaign from Tac-Ops DLC set during the civil war and Remnants of War set shortly after the East Wind conflict. That one is imo very under rated. It's good enough that it could have been its own spin-off standalone title.
And I would recommend to play the official Campaigns too. East Wind is quite fun.
How long you play depends on how long you do the patrol missions. Those are open world (but restricted to a playable area) mission where you can venture out to get loot, do side missions etc.
But the East Wind should be doable within 15-20 hours, depending on your playstyle.
They are really well done, i especially liked the "Laws of war" campaign very much!
I just finished First Contact, I enjoyed it, despite some bugs and unnecessary difficulties.
