Frustrated - How do I lock missiles on to targets? (video)
Hi all - I'm tryin gto figure out how to lock missiles on to targets. I've watched a load of tutorials but I can't get it to play ball. I can drop GBU's on the target fine, but guided missiles just fly off on their own. How do I make them lock on please?

Video of what I mean is here;

Because the Macer missiles fire forward instead of dropping out of the bottom like a bomb you have to aim the jet at the target otherwise you cant get a lock. Also if you use radar to lock onto a target it will be a lot quicker than using the planes laser designator.

ps. in both third person and first person there is a reticle that you want to have the target inside.

You press T. Well T is the default control anyway.

I’ll try those suggestions thanks.
In case my key mappings are wrong, should T be “lock target” and R “reveal target”??

Any chance you can check the exact mapping’s on your key config please? I have a feeling I need to remap.

with T you need to look straight at it, meanwhile with R it will detect it and you just line it up and fire

I set up a scenario with a single enemy tank and me flying the Black Wasp II. No amount of pressing T while looking at the target with make the aircraft lock on. This is really frustrating me, how do I lock targets??

To clear things up:

1. Only GBUs (afaik) can lock on laser target
2. For ground vehicles, you need to select proper rockets (AG type)
3. The ground vehicle must have a heat signature to be able to target it for the AG rockets (idle ones won't work)

Made a video which shows that I can't target it while idle, but then I do when it starts moving:

Also you should look up how the targeting system works now:

Thanks for that - I had no idea that veh's which are cold weren't targetted, maybe that is the issue. I'll try my scenario and make a waypoint for the enemy veh to see what happens

I smash R and T because Arma is unclear.
