It's just for side chosing. Good guys VS Bad guys etc.
OpFor represents a fictional PACT like alliance with prevalent ingame nations being China and Iran.
IndFor represents the nations that are not in these large alliances like rebels and memeber state militaries with in game are the Altian armed forces, which has resembelance to the Afghan national army in composistion and role.
The civ's are self explanitory- Non combatants.
