Arma 3

Disabling a tank.
Forcing the crew to bail out of an MRAP or wheeled APC is simple enough, is there a way to cause the crew to abandon a tracked vehicle so that it can be captured intact? The only topics I can find on this are yeas old, and those methods dont work any longer.

If you bust a track, then the crew will bail. However, fixing and/or replacing the track might be tricky. You could try flipping the tank, but that will be even more difficult. You'll need to either pull a trick with Arma's physics engine or lure them onto extremely dodgy terrain.

Ok, how do I break the track? Ive tried the PCML, which is,(I think) the weakest AT, and it destroys them after 2 shots to the front track.

I was able to break the tracks a while ago through repeat .338 Norma Magnum (SPMG) and/or 9.3x64mm Brenneke fire (Navid) while playing insurgency on a public server. It required way too much time so I suggest just flipping the tank through a physics trick.

Try getting it to hop a guard rail and getting an MRAP to ram it while it's on an angle. If you time it right, you might be able to at least get it on its side, which should force a bail-out. However, I've only pulled off the aforementioned trick once.

Ok, I tried 3 belts from the Navid, guess it just wasnt enough, Ill try again with more. Thanks.

Well the thing is that the AI has been tweaked to make it harder for the AI to bail. As noted, wheeled vehicles are still easy to take out since you can see how far got the wheels are. However it seems like you need to take out most of the systems of a tracked vehicle for the crew to bail. This means it is very hard to capture them without the ammo cooking off, or the fuel tank going off.

You could try an RPG-7 from Apex, I recall that's weak enough to not blow the tank while being able to damage the treads.

Have you tried a couple of grande launchers on the track or a AT mine, I haven't bothered reading the other comments but I'm aussimg AT mines are probs the best bet

AT mine will do the trick.

shoot the turret from behind , directly behind with ALAMUT rpg or something unguided like that. Turret and gun will be completely disabled, rendering weapon systems on tank completely useless. that might do the trick.

you can also blow up a tank with just 2 rpg alamuts as well, shoot it from back. you will see there is a middle part of the tank, door for carrying extra crew. that part is the weakest and it will blow up the engines - disable them completely with 2 rpgs to that spot.

I've had tanks with messed up turrets and guns systems where the AI wouldn't bail out. Remember they updated the AI this summer to be less likely to bail. Before you could knock out the commander's turret on a Sochor and the AI would bail from the otherwise intact vehicle.

Sorry for necroposting and stating the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ obvious, but when you see a tank in Arma 3, your first instinct shouldn't be to destroy it. Destroying a tank is almost impossible due to how tough they are and also how fast some of them can be. Trust me, modern tanks are fast, not race car fast, but fast enough to avoid danger. And most of the time, just seeing one tank alone is more than enough to make Batman ♥♥♥♥ his pants.

My advice is to make sure you're never alone when you encounter a tank. Tanks are built to destroy whatever gets in their way, though they're really for infantry and other armored vehicles. And to add insult to injury, they're not lightly armored nor are tank crews easily fooled or bested. The worst thing you can possibly do is try to fight off a tank all by yourself. It's like a car going toe to toe with a locomotive. I haven't played any of the campaigns yet due to my PC being a potato, but I use the Eden Editor A LOT just to ♥♥♥♥ around with the AI and ♥♥♥♥. From my Eden Editor experience, tanks are VERY difficult to destroy if you're not in one yourself. And to make matters worse, some are heavily armored whereas others have lighter armor, making the tanks with lighter armor more easy to damage, but also making it easier for other enemy tanks to know where you are if you attack them. I've also noticed that enemy tanks will not know you're present until you fire at them or do something that gets the crew's attention. Once the crews are aware of your presence, they know where you are and will attempt to murder you until you get a certain distance from them or they move and lose track of you. And don't think tall grass is going to hide you from their sights, because they'll still know where you are even if you're in tall grass or any tall foliage. Hiding in a building is even worse because most buildings are destructible, so tanks can just obliterate them, either killing you or depriving you of cover from them.

Indestructible buildings can still be penetrated, so even if the building you're hiding in is indestructible, tank shells can still go through the walls. And the explosions can also kill you as well.

Just stay far away from tanks. And if you have to engage one, use explosives, but disable the turrets and main gun first, that way they can't kill you unless they decide to run over you instead.

a single AT maaws/rpg42 to the tracks will make any tank a sitting duck.

You can breach the vehicle with mods included I believe.

Do enough damage to tracks and make sure that the vehicle is not locked.

You go to the tank, you strike first, from the best offensive position, at the best timing, using the best overkilling weapon.
If tank goes to you, you are done. Just that simple. Nobody invest a shot ton of cash into tank developing for no reason.
