copying server setup for offline sp possible?
Let's say I really like the map and setup of a certain sandbox server. Is there a way I can copy the scenario for my own use locally? For a single player scenario or launched so via local hosting? I don't mind playing on the actual server, but playtime for me is limited, so I don't want a server reset to lose all my progress. (Exile mod if you're curious)

You can ask the server owner if they will share the mission file.

You download the mission file if you join a server.
Look in appdata folder (can be hidden folder protect by windows)

appdata/local/arma 3/MPMissionsCache

Do a check if mission maker like to share it and if it use mods see server whits mods they use

General bad form+ because the server has already done the hard work and owns 'the rights'.
Setting up your own(especially paid) based on theirs would be a big no-no.
Plus it may take some of their their player count if MP.

Ask them first and why.

This is why I said to ask for the mission file, as they may, or may not be willing to share it.

Nah, no need to. I figured it out.

The only entity that "owns the rights" to any assets in the video game, is Bohemia Interactive and you can find such info in their EULA. Just because you arrange those assets in a configuration that may be unique, (i.e. a map), doesn't mean you "own the rights" to it.

People own their mission file, any scripts they wrote, textures that may be included in the mission.

Technically you can use the mission file for personal use, but you can't redistribute it, the mission creator owns the rights to it.

You don’t "own" the mission file itself, as it is part of the game and accessible to all players. When joining a server, players download the mission file and its data. Scripts and source code written using the proprietary Arma scripting language (SQF) are created within the framework of Bohemia Interactive’s technology. Although the scripting language and engine are owned by Bohemia, custom scripts created by users would normally be considered intellectual property, HOWEVER, Small code snippets, typically less than 12 lines, are generally considered too minimal to be protected by copyright, (Free Software Foundation). And practically all the scripts I have came across in Arma have been less than 10 lines.

Custom created textures, yeah, you're right about that.

You own the rights to what you create, and others cannot redistribute it without consent. You can argue all you want about "rights", but if you redistribute a mission file that someone else created, the owner can request that the "stolen" mission file be removed.

This is why I suggested to the person that that ask for the mission file, because I have no idea what they want to do with it, and it's always best to ask the owner before using what they created.

Did you figure it out? There's a server i want to play with just myself and maybe a friend or two but it's based out of another country so ping is horrible. Is it just downloading and copying mission file like ThunderStorm said ?

copie the mission file from appdata/local/arma 3/MPMissionsCache and put that in,
Steam/steamapps/common/arma3/MPmission so you can host the mission and play it.
But check if mission needs mods, if not you ready to play that way.

Yes I did and it wasn't that easy but still very doable. Here's how I did it. I went to C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Arma 3\MPMissionsCache to find the mission PBO file. I used this guide to learn how to open the PBO file and how to edit it:
