With Advanced Armor Plate Mod 2.1.6, you can give yourself some heavy (seriously, really heavy) armor inserts that will grant you full body protection far and away in excess of any other mod out there. The strongest armor piece is the Ceradyne .50 BMG Protective, which is capable of multi-hit protection against even 12.7x108mm Ball at point-blank. Under my system, it has an armor level of VIII, 8.
Just make sure you have enough space in your vest and backpack, you'll need it. I strongly recommend using the mod with ACE3 but it works without it.
The mod is actually quite realistic, believe it or not. We can't respawn in real life so we've made great advances in personal protection unrealized by video games.
Both are perfectly possible and both can exist.
How about suits of power armor that offer full-body 12.7x108mm AP protection in addition to being strong enough to wield autocannons and gatling cannons ranging from 20x102mm to 40x255mm to even handheld TOW missiles. How does that sound?
Certainly gives a little Juggernaut a run for his money. Soon... hopefully very soon... we'll have the Pitman at the ready.
Introducing this to Arma, albeit with "handheld" weapons that fit the size.
