You would be in hell there.
now i am all up for realism, for a simulator but one that is at least playable. never played any arma before this one and have put in about 8 hours on hte single player intro settings but only managed ot complete 2 of them after some very hard and frustratingly hard work and many, many restarts.
dont see how this game is what it says it is im afraid....really disappointed.
A little tip on AI, 0.1 is like an AI who doesnt know what end of the gun the bullets come out. 1.0 is like an auto targeting terminator. So on .50 they are rather skilled and well versed in the means of war. I would seggest dropping the slider to around 0.20-0.30, and uncheck damage reduction, The AI sill still be hardish for a new player but will also make it easier to learn
most of arma players came from operation flashpoint series. I felt the same when I first tried Cold War Assault.
Have you done all playable tutorials? maybe you should try short single player missions, some of them are very good and enjoyable and they are made by the community for the community.
In relation to the gameplay itself, my advice is keep your head off, always look for cover in attack mode, hit the ground when the enemy is shooting you (this one is very important, and be veeeeery patient. Third person camera is very useful when if you know how to use it. Also, I usually form in column in open spaces and in diamond in urban places.
Hope this helps you!
I found it's best to use a custom difficulty, and an accuracy of .30-.40, which will make firefights last much longer and not insta-kill so often.
Would have been a more immersive experience if they made sure you never were given AI to control - as doing so just pulls back the curtain and reveals the jankyness underneath.
Remember the mission where you have to use FIA members to steal a cargo truck? What fun it was - no time to effectively set up the ambush, the AI wont get in the truck without running 100m away and back - all while the enemy response is inbound and will will kill you all if you don't escape in time.
Meta approach for that mission is to leave the AI at the start of the mission and do it yourself - as the AI wastes precious seconds just getting into the car at the beginning.
I would give the ARMA3 campaign a 2/10. Those 2 points are for voice acting and story board - the missions themselves are pretty standard for anyone who knows how to use the editor. One thing that would have made it good is if it had Coop. It doesn't; and it isn't.
Don't even get me started on APEX's schizophrenic approach to story telling - broken revive system at launch (for several months, they failed to fix a single numerical value) and general unappeal.
campaign may suck but the rest of the game is 100%
WHich is betteR?
They should have made it entirely different somehow. It's just too generic. The rest of the game is fine, excellent. And Old Man is good.
Even went to complete all the extra scouting missions.
next time I'll be doing it with mods.
