Arma 3

Video memory leak?
Howdy.

I'm having an issue with my VRAM while running Arma 3. (1070 8GB of RAM)
Basically when I start playing my VRAM usage is sitting around 2 GB. But it just keeps creeping up slowly, and after a couple of hours it'll be up to 6 or 7 GB. Unless I restart the game before it uses 90+% of my VRAM, my entire system goes black and freezes requiring a hard restart.

Anyone else experience this? Googling only yields resutls with people arriving to the conclusion that their card doesn't have enough RAM to handle the game. But my card has just about as much VRAM as any card can, and during the first half-hour of playtime the usage sits around 2GB. Clearly something is wrong.

Any ideas?

I have the same problem, Arma gradually increases the amount of RAM and VRAM it uses over the time I play. I usually reboot between changing servers or just every couple of hours. This issue made me upgrade from 8GB to 16GB and now Arma's RAM usage often peaks up to as much as 10GB. Don't know how to deal with the VRAM issue.

any mods on? Also some server assets/custom textures have been found to hog up RAM in the past, so consider switching server if the ones you crash on use a lot of custom textures on vehicles and uniforms

That sadly has nothing to do with my problem as it never used to happen and no hardware has changed, modded or vannila, used to never go above 4gb and now it just keep climing till full
Thanks for the reply tho

The topic is relevant in 2019.

Sadly when i used to do that it wouldn't reduce how much is being used at all, a fix i have found to stop it making the game crash is to setup page file size in windows properly and change the memory allocator in the games launcher to intel, not had a crash since due to vram filling up and it recycles the last bit of vram much better.

Only ever had leaks since 64bit dropped(the cause) and only when using 64bit version of the game, running it in 32bit has no leaks and caps everything to 4gb both system and video. I'm just glad i found a fix for 64bit as Arma devs pretend there is no leaks lol

Oh yeah, it got really bad right before the 64-bit update. Remember the 3fps bug?

Have you tried to swap the graphic card for a test?
Because this looks like a overheated graphics for me.

In before: Other games - Because it's ArmA.

Look at the date of the screenshot lol

This was when the 7fps bug was in full force and would happen when you overloaded the vram with terrain textures in a short amount of time, temps was fine at the time @ around 50c, this don't happen anymore but was normally triggered by me using the infistar admin tool to TP around the map helping people and the demand of textures having to load at each spot would at some point cause this. And this was happening with almost everyone with a Nvidia GPU at the time and would come and go with each driver update. so can defo rule out overheating.
