Arma 3

Why can you reload your weapon if the magazine is in your backpack?
The game called Escape from Tarkov doesn't let you do that... you need to open your inventory, and put the magazine from the backpack to your vest, just like in real life you would open your backpack and get the magazine from it, instead of just magically teleporting the magazine from your backpack that is on your back to your hand. It also has some other interesting features, like double tapping R to reload faster, but if you do that, you drop the magazine that was in the gun, because you didn't take the time to put it back on your vest. Isn't that exciting? I like features such as that... is there a mod that does this? Why isn't this in the game already? Do you think it should be in the game or not?

But it's a simulator. Last time I checked, no soldier can magically pull out a magazine from their backpack unless they stop to put the backpack on the ground, open it, find the magazine, and then reload the weapon. Besides, you can carry a lot of maganizes on your vest, so it's not like you'd have to open the inventory every single time you have to reload. It would just add a bit more strategy in choosing your loadout, you'd have to put all the important stuff in your uniform and vest, and all the extra stuff you need in your backpack.

It's not a sim, it's a military sandbox with simulation elements.

...because it was not put into the game?

Not everything needs to be in a video game. Thinking like this could eventually boil down to silly things, such as urination simulation or boredom simulation.

The development team probably didn't even think about something so insignificant during development. They more than likely had more important ideas and a different scope for the game.

Remember, just because you or someone else thinks of something does not mean that it ever crossed the mind of another.

When you are making a game there is a fine line between simulation and insanity. Every little thing that gets in has to be weighted against the goal or aim of the game, and based on what kind of gameplay you want to achieve.

The inventory suggestion seems to be just an additional complexity for no gameplay gain. I understood your point but it's just not enough to warrant such a behaviour.

The fast reload option seems interesting however, afaik soldiers in real life are taught to never do that kind of rambo/terminator reloads in the field.

It's a silly unoptimized game. It's nothing more than that and because it's arma.

But then, why doesnt Escape from Tarkov have an event where you have to poop, pee, burp, throw up at times, if you get hurt you dont get an infection, you dont sneeze, you dont blink, you don't trip, you dont get goose bumps. Doesnt seem very realistic to me...

I'm sorry, but I don't see how that ties in with the topic at hand.

Is there no modification yet which disallows that? :D

This has nothing to do with ARMA as in ARMA you can indeed use magazines from your backpack. It's the mod itself that does not allow it and thus you posted in the wrong forum topic as there is a mod topic.

Not all backpacks are literal backpacks. It would be illogical for a viper harness' front pockets to be inaccessible. I prefer the Arma II inventory system, but I'm happy to say I'm glad we don't have Tarkov's leg meta or any other issue of that sort, like the laughably high amount of hackers or the unrealistic body armor.

All of our problems are isolated to KOTH, Exile, and Altis Wife containment modes. Our milsim sphere is solid albeit short on players because of this fascination going about us that just makes us want to make three man units of the week instead of joining larger and more well-equipped units.

did you read/can you read? i didn't last more than 2 sentences in, but it's clear he thinks it's unrealistic that you CAN pull magazines from your pack in a firefight.

Sorry, I missed the idea; not enough coffee this morning.
