Why can't peeps pass through a stepped warehouse ?
A stepped warehouse has a door at each end, and everything stored there can be accessed from either doorway. Why can't peeps pass through one ? It makes no sense that this is not possible.

If the developers think that this would make warehouses too useful for the resourcces needed, I would gladly add the cost of one elevator to the cost to have this facility.

Part of the problem is that Elevators are actually very complex in the code, with exceptions and special cases all over the place in order to make them work right, and we didn't want to complicate it further by adding a second building to all those special cases (and risk missing some and breaking everything). There are also considerations such as losing visibility on the Peeps queueing to go up the warehouses internal elevator - they would disappear into the warehouse and then not emerge for an unknowable amount of time, because you wouldn't be able to see the queue to know how busy it is. And having them queue/gather outside the warehouse would add even more complexity to the elevator system!

I saw people coming and going from both doors, I just assumed they were passing through. You are correct of course if they are not.

As someone who used to be a Dev, I can tell you how it happened tho ... one of the Dev's asked for permission to make a stepped warehouse, and the Producer/Product Manager said, "Sure, just make sure you don't replace the elevator." And it never went any further.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I can see the logic behind what you wrote. Yet the building looks exactly as if it's designed to be combination elevator and storage. I hope that in some future update you can add that functionality. But I'm sure there are many higher-priority things to do.

The building and the icon is a mix of the elevator and storage icons. Thought I was doing it wrong because I specifically wanted to use them for dual usage. Glad to know it's expected.

They can't pass through? That's.... disappointing. I guess I won't be building any more of these!

I think it still makes sense to build these if you’re putting your metal working industry on mountains. Ore, iron, steal can all be stored here and only takes 1 mountain space vs 2 for a normal warehouse. It reduces the traffic jam of taking stuff down an elevator to store in a ground level warehouse just to bring it right back up the elevator to use in the next building.

Like everything else in this game, it just depends on your layout and available space to determine what works and what doesn’t.

the best thing about the stepped warehouse is being able to utilise those odd spaces on your map with a building that covers 2 levels - love it !
also storage space is king !!

Well, they are still (minimally) useful ...

I made this same exact point plus pointed out why implementing stairs into the game instead of elevators would help with the flow of traffic and my post got deleted.

Hey! I've also left a similar reply to you on your review, but I wanted to have a slightly different conversation with you here.

Regarding your deleted post, is this the feedback you're referring to? I can see that our creative director/lead dev Sam (aka Chiefmonkey) had a brief conversation with you there. My apologies that no one ever replied to your last comment - the sad truth is that, despite us doing our absolute best to keep up with all the feedback and comments, sometimes we miss things. If you want to get in touch with us ASAP, I always recommend coming to our Discord[discord.gg]! Ping us and we'll endeavour to reply quickly. Also, I want to reassure you that we'd never delete a post because someone disagrees with us! We value feedback way too highly for that.

That said, even though we do value what people tell us, we can't always implement community feedback. Whether that's due to technical limitations, time constraints, or if it steps outside of our vision for Before We Leave, just to name a few reasons. It's something that we've grappled with as a studio but all four of us came to realise that you can treasure feedback while also not implementing it.

I hope this has been helpful! :)

OMG, and most of us don't want you to!!!! You just keep driving on, you and your doing just fine. Just be sure to implement my feedback!!!

Hahahahaha!
