Chara Studio and Koikatsu are the same thing?

Sorry for the silly question but i'm a newbie here, i saw a couple of games made with this engine and i would love to spend my free time to learn on how to animate a model, create a scene, etc.

I've read that i need to download the HF Patch to make the game more user-friendly, but what are the benefict aside from the uncensurship?
My other question is: if i buy the game here on Steam do i get access to Chara Studio? Or do i need to downgrade the game or stuffs like that?

They are not the same thing.

Koikatsu has a story mode and just a character designing tool. It's more of a video game.

Studio lets you make entire scenes for videos or whatever else you can think of where you design way more than just the characters. It's more of a creator's software.

I thought it came with the game, but if not then I'm not sure.

Download and install the HF Patch for the game and that might unlock it for you.

Someone else may know better.

You need the HF patch for CharaStudio, for some reason it wasn't ever added to the Steam release.

Hello Zale,

Koikatsu Party and Chara Studio are two differents things, but they come togheter. Steam sell what you can see as an entry point to both, Koikatsu and Studio. If what you want is to make animations, then it is mainly studio that you need. But, you can't have it without the stuff that is sold on Steam. You need that base first.

Then, you need the HF patch, like you understood. It is easy to find it, there is a torrent magnet that you can search on Google, and that's all. Unfortunatly, we can't put it here on Steam.That said, the so called "HF Patch", is not realy a patch ! It's the main part of the system. It will install many things, includind Studio.

So, what is Koikatsu ? Three differents things. A game, a character creator and an images/videos creator. The game is of low interest, if you want my advice, but the two other tools are good. Studio is the images/videos creator. The game and the character creator belong into Koikatsu Party itself.

...however, you will need some time and some skill to use them. The character creator is quite simple, but Studio is not.

A last thing... you have to know that Koikatsu is fully legit, but can be misused to create stiuff that are not. This is definitly not the main usage of this tool, which is absolutly not intented to do so, but it still that it is possible.

It means that you will find many warnings and other cautions about dirty - and even ugly - things. That's also legit, since yes the tool can be used a bad way. But don't worry too much, the normal use of Koikatsu is okay. At least if you are over 18.

Just beter to know that. But once more, nothing to be effraid about if you know a little.
