Exporting models for other software?
I'm thinking about taking a look at this game's character creator for making characters for a SHMUP I'm working on. Is there a way to export character models and edit them in blender, or no? I don't have the game yet, which is why I'm asking this.

There is an exporter plugin that does just this...but I never got further than bringing it into Blender. You have to fix everything up since the model will look...messed up when loaded into Blender. But yeah, it's possible. Wished people would do it more than just for VR Chat or something, though...also wished the tutorials were more up to date because I always ran into some sort of trouble when trying myself, and I'm not into modeling and such, so Blender overwhelms the crap out of me. xD

Ok. So how is it messed up? Is it just shaders, or is the geometry distorted in some way? Are textures aligned properly, or do they need to be fixed also? If it's just shaders being messed up, I already have to deal with that when using Vroid studio, so it's no big deal, but if it's the geometry and texture alignment, I'd have to do much more work than I already do, and it would probably not be worth switching.

I think it's shading and texture/color. I also think clothing/accessories might overlap here and there.

But yeah, like you'd notice some odd shading/texture issues going on with the face. I honestly don't know how to explain it, it's est for you to check it out for yourself. But also, let me know if you figure out a better way of fixing things up because I kinda want to use created characters outside of Koikatsu myself.

This gives you the download link to the plugin, have fun. lol

It is possible, yes. But I also can just post some random links. No idea which is the "better" and latest one.

There is also a big Discord server with modding, guide channels and more. Maybe you find more informations there. https://universalhentai.com/

Thank you. I'll take a look at this tomorrow, when I don't have to worry about my younger brother walking in on me.

Yeah let me know if you figure out everything on cleaning up the model while in Blender. I've tried so many tutorials and they're out of date or something happens that stops me.

Ok, I just got a model into blender. It looks like the eyes are thouroughly broken, to the point where I might just want to delete the face entirely and make one in vroid studio. Changing the render mode completely changes the way the eyes look. Other than that, the model actually looks pretty good. I'll need to redo the shaders, but I learned how to do that with models from vroid studio, so it shouldn't be too bad. The armature is scarily complicated, and the wireframe is much more dense than what I'm used too.

As I was writing this, I took a closer look at the eyes, with the renderer set to cycles experimental GPU compute, and it looks like the eyes themselves are mostly fine. The eyeliner texture is broken, and they are half closed, and all the bones around them are so big that I can't figure out which one is the right one yet. After I'm done writing this, I'm going to see if I can edit the armature to be more usable.

EDIT: Selecting a bone in the armature freezes my computer for a moment. I'm worried I may end up needing to build a new one from scratch, which I've never done, as it's very hard to work with.

I also took an even closer look at the eyes, and it looks like the glitched textures I was seeing on non-cycles render modes are some sort of emotes. I'm going to see if I can delete them.

EDIT 2: I realized that deleting them was annoying, so I took a look at the shaders. If you edit all of the gageye shaders to just be a transparent BSDF node going into the material output, the eyes look much better, allthough I still need to work on the expression and weird lines around the eyes. I'm starting to think that they might be the eyebrows.

EDIT 3: It looks like all of the bones are on one layer. I'm going to figure out how to use bone layers, and then start moving them onto different layers for ease of use.

I can't remember where, but one of the videos I think did say something about fixing the eyes...but yeah the face in general is a mess. For me some clothes had some issues as well. But yeah I never got far because all the tutorials were outdated and I got lost in Blender. :c
