Report a translation problem
The game was bad, exactly as you described, when I launched from Virtual Desktop's games tab.
The game was smooth throughout, ran great, when I first had VD launched SteamVR, then navigated to launch the game from inside SteamVR.
Quest 2 and quest 3 can cause some horrible problems, it's hard to resist the impression that the changes in the software are made specifically to "encourage" people to buy vr games only in the facbook store.
Maybe one of these thoughts will lead you to something.
But if not, it's just a small free game.

Disable Game Mode and Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling in Windows settings app, that fixes many issues with Steamvr games.
But this game in particular freezes after ~15 minutes of smooth play.
