The Game Keeps crashing on Start

I recently downloaded Bastion again so I could replay it, only to be unable to start the game. I saw a similar post, but the advice given (downloading Microsoft XNA Framework Redistributable 3.1) didn't work. Any other ideas? I really wanna play through Bastion again!

Has anything changed about your system since you last played (hardware or software)?

Windows 10, and I've factory-reset the laptop since the last time I played. Beyond that, I can't think of anything else.

Go to \Steam\steamapps\common\bastion\ and run these files:

dotNetFx35setup.exe
dxwebsetup.exe
xnafx31_redist.msi

I know you did the XNA already, but give it a shot again this way.

Okay this is really embarrassing but I can't find \Steam\steamapps\common\bastion\. I honestly don't mess around with this stuff much. How do I get where I need to? And thank you for helping me out.

Right click on the game in your Steam library and click Properties. You should then see a "Local Files" tab. Click on "Browse local files".

I reinstalled the game and ran all three files, but the game still won't launch. I'm not getting a specific error message, just "Bastion has stopped working. Windows is searching for a solution to the problem." but nothing ever comes of it. The popup window just closes on its own after a moment.

Go to control panel -> Programs -> Turn Windows Feaures on of off. There should be a listing for .NET framework. Check all boxes related to .NET and restart your computer.

What are your system specs? There aren't any real limitations, but I'm grasping at straws here.

It's a laptop intel processor with 1.60 GHz and a 64 bit operating system and that's really all I know.

The minimum system requirements for the game are a 1.7GHz processor.

Just to be sure, go to the start menu an type dxdiag and press enter. That will give you information about your system. Please post the processor and memory info here so that I can confirm that this is the issue.

It says my laptop has 1.6 GHz and 2048 RAM, but I bought the game and ran it on this exact same laptop all the way through with no problem about a year ago. Has it been patched or updated since then?

It certainly has not been patched since then. Supergiant is a very small dev studio, so they've moved on to other projects (i.e. Transistor and now Pyre).

I'm now thinking it might have something to do with your graphics driver. You have all of the necessary libraries installed, and it can't be a hardware issue since you have ran it on the same hardware in the past.

Let me know what your Intel Graphics Driver version[www.intel.com] is. Also, please tell me the entire name of your CPU that was next to "Processor:" in dxdiag.

Yeah, between it being over five years old and the fact that I hadn't heard of the dev company before buying the game, I figured it probably wasn't updated. Just making sure. My CPU's name is "Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU N3050 @ 1.60 GHz (2 CPUs), ~1.6 GHz", and the Driver verion is 10.18.15.4256.
