tips for machete proving ground?
The one where you need to kill squirts. Most of them are the kind that flee so I gather you're supposed to hit them by throwing the knife but they keep moving around so I miss a lot and second prize requires 90 seconds or better... It takes me like 3 or 4 minutes to kill all of them by throwing the knife. Is there a better way?

It took me a few tries as well. I found that killing a good chunk of the ones that run before they split up then going for the spawners helps. You don't have to worry about the blue ones that much since they will chase you when you get close, then make your way around getting as many melee's as possible limiting the amount of throws since those eat up the most time especially if you miss. Half of it is luck anyway for how the AI decides to make them run, so it might require more than a couple retries. Having your machete upgraded helps, but ultimately the more you can kill with melee the better. Roll roll roll!

Yeah, I'll second Zelphyre on killing the green ones. Get to the green ones as soon as you possibly can, then stand there at the spawn point and kill them before they run. If you're quick you should be able to get all/most of them. Then just go around taking out the others, which is far easier.

(it also helps to have leechade & damage resistance spirits, because you'll be tanking everything else while you take out the green ones)

I waited a bit until I got the Stabsynthe, which helps, but basically as soon as you grab the machete, evade-roll into the spawn point [your normal jog is way too slow] and slash away! If you can get the bulk of the fleeing squirts with ~30 seconds to spare, the rest is a cakewalk.

Stand in the middle where all the green ones start spawning from. Take down as many green ones as you can as soon as they spawn just using regular melee slashes. If you do it right there should be just a few green ones that escape (or maybe none, but I had 3 or 4 I think). Go kill the spawners then mop up the rest as quick as possible.

I agree with Dubs. If you stay in the middle and just keep slashing you will get the majority of the hardest Squirts out of the way.

I agree with evertything that's said, if you still find it hard, you can just skip it til you are able to upgrade your machete. The attack speed and crit bonuses will make short work of the squirts, just don't let the green ones stray too far.

The only other way (which I haven't done) is to grab the machete and stand back and throw the thing at the huge mass of squirts. It's a whole load easier when you have it fully upgraded to 3 machetes per throw, and the other way is far easier. Just making sure everyone knew their optons.

Definitely stay in the middle and get as many of the green ones as you can, after that I took out the spawners and turrets, then mopped up the last green ones. It really helps if you upgrade the amount of blades per throw.

The spawning point actually works, thank you :-)

That was one of those prooving grounds where I never saw a light at the end of the tunnel that wasn't a train, as I never noticed that the green ones all spawn from one place. When I tried it now I made 2nd place right away, tried again and got close to 1st, but not quite. Tried again, came in much worse -- there's still a good deal of luck involved, but I might actually make 1st at some point.

Do these "stick" in New Game Plus, so I can continue working on the prooving grounds after finishing New Game Plus? Apparantly it reset the prooving grounds when I finished the first playthrough...
