Request for Dualshock 4 support on Bastion on Mac
EDIT: Since I wrote this post Steam has acquired proper support for Dualshock controllers (and many other different gamepads), as of now the controller works perfectly when correctly configured in Steam's Big Picture.

-------------------------

I have this game, love it and use Mac OSX 10.9, I also have a PS4 Dualshock 4 controller.

I really like this game, but I don't like not being able to play it with my controller. The game totally ignores it, I can configure it properly in Steam Big Picture (navigate the overlay using it) and use it in some other games (like Super Meat Boy and FEZ), but not in this.

I (we, probably) would like to see a little update to this game to make it compatible with our controllers (Directinput / HID / whatever Steam Big Picture understand), please dev do : )

Controller support is the only thing I actually hate about this game. I had a logitech chillstream (xbox 360 clone) which works... for the most part. But my preferred controller is the Dualshock 3, which this game detects but the button mapping is completely wrong.

I wouldn't get your hopes on this issue. From what I understand, if the game handed off controller support to SDL then virtually every controller would work.

Same here, like a lot more the Dualshock 4 than everything else.

And I mean, if this game works with the same controller in Ubuntu, then...

I use linux, so x360ce is essentially useless for me (thanks for the suggestion though). However, if they intend for this game to "feature" on the steam box I suspect they will eventually upgrade to SDL 2. unless they add code specific to the steam controller.

DISREGARD EVERY PREVIOUS POST.

DS4 tool is what you need. Seamless, perfect Dualshock 4 to X360 emulation, rumble and light bar support, and you can even use the touchpad as a mouse. It works perfectly with every game. I just tried it with Bastion as well, if you need that explicit confirmation that it works. You can connect the controller through Bluetooth or USB. Download here. http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-DS4-To-XInput-Wrapper

Seems that all those that suggest Motionjoy and DS4tool did not read the "ON MAC" part of the title ._.

the easiest way there is Joystick Mapper (mac) https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/joystick-mapper/id528183797?mt=12 (4.99$)
u'll be able to play wired or wirelessly any game u want using your dualshock 4
but u'll have to make custom mapping for every single game on your own (make presset for a game, than just select the presset and run the game)

After googling around a little, I landed on Joystick Mapper to solve this problem.

Worked pretty well, was just getting used to the controls (not having played the game before) – then… why is he only attacking in one direction? This keeps happening… maybe it’s part of the game?
Wait. What was that thing I saw earlier? Was it a mouse cursor?

Oh.
He’s attacking in the direction the mouse cursor is, relative to him.

There’s nothing Joystick Mapper can do to solve this. It’s either got to be DS4 support for Bastion from the devs (unlikely), or some sort of middleware app that fakes the existence of, and remaps, a Bastion supported controller on OSX.

Which is pretty much what the rather awesome Input Mapper does on Windows… how does this not exist on OSX yet?

Going to keep hunting, but don’t like my chances.

You can map the mouse pointer to a stick in Joystick Mapper -- that should work.
