Needs captain

message shows up under one of my ships but there seem to be no way i can assign any officers for it?
Also i searched for this term "needs captain" in these forums, but there were no results, is that telling me nobody else has come across this problem?

Do you have any officers available? If you click the captain's slot you'll see the available ones on the left - those in reserve and those available for recruitment. Remember that once assigned, you need to click "update" for the assignment to stick. This is true also if you dismiss an officer from one ship in order to place him on another: click update for the change to stick.

The only exception to this rule is when you dismiss land troops - don't ever do that unless you don't want to see them again. If you want to move land troops from one ship to another, you need to click on "reserve". It is unfortunate that the game uses the word "dismiss" for both officers and soldiers, yet it means very different things in each case.

I see those lists but no interaction seems possible it shows no officers there? , i even managed to unassign some additional officers i had from other ships but they didn't seem to enter the pool of available officers, or it simply had no effect..

is this because of my point game of entry?.....i need to add here i think, that this is in a campaign, i was in a landing-combat mission, it had gone completely terrible, so i selected restart, then went back to the harbour. Would that make such a difference?

It shouldn't - does the problem persist if you load an earlier save?
And maybe you could post a screenshot of the harbour screen where you can't assign a captain?

it's ok man, yeah i loaded a saved game from before this battle, it's fine now
