Marine sonar sound bugged

Hey everyone,

When i play marine, i get this annoying clicking sound every time my sonar pings, but, let me make this clear, its not the motion detection sound which warns you that something is moving but a sound that constantly loops when there is absolutely nothing there. For example, in 1st marine mission, in the very beginning, when you regain your consciousness, there is nothing in tha warehouse, yet my radar is constantly making this rly annoying sound every time my sonar pings.

This sound is pretty similar to a water drops fallin on stretched out thin plastic surface, or, maybe to touching your speakers membrane, just a bit more higher. So, pretty much, its a dull, low, repetative sound, not like that highly pitched "motion detection" bleep.

I am on Win7, i tried both DX9 and DX11 and they both have this problem. If anyone knows of a way to fix this awfull thing, please let me know so i can enjoy this game in peace

it no bug, it be a feature. Seriously it is not a bug. If you rewatch Alien the sound is there but it isn't as loud. I figure the devs put emphasis on the sound to enhance the psychological suspense; induces a sense of paranoia

Really? You sure? Idk man, i rly dont like this sound, its rly annoying. Also, audio overall seems pretty screwed, pulse rifle for instance. I have 2.1 sound system, and i just got it like 2 weeks ago and my win7 is freshly installed/updated today and the audio sounds a bit off...
You are probably right about that "movie reference" couse i read the same thing on steam forums but i thought ppl mistook it for the bleep ping.

I had the same problem (seems they deleted my topic though :S), I eventually found a mod that replaces both the radar sounds and the weapon sounds (pulse rifle is just awful here) with the ones from AVP2.

Ok, not sure if its the mod, placebo or im just getting used to this but, the sound of the radar appears much less iritating now, after applying the mod for sonar ping only. Its still there, that low, blunt tapping i described, but, not so notable and not so iritating. Thank you for your help bro. Cheers! ;)

I get this same exact thing and I'm gonna download this mod right away to see how it helps. As a headphone user, I have reason to believe this poor decision of an audio file, however canon it may or may not be, was genuinly *physically* damaging to my hearing. I was so damn POSITIVE what I was hearing was an audio glitch, not a feature... I guess this goes to show how much polishing these games need. Thank you for the help.

EDIT: Yeah, I can tell you beyond the shadow of a doubt that this mod instantly fixes my problem. And it makes the game all around more enjoyable - even the things I haden't intended to change like the basic assault riffle sounds are more appealing and sound less out of place or sharp. This simple mod is a must-have, and I certainly do wish the audio technician who worked on this game would go ♥♥♥♥ himself with a chainsaw for what he has done to my ears with unneccissarily sharp sounds >:u

Why didnt you just go into audio setting of this game and just lower the sfx settings ,,,sounds like this mod is just doing the same thing ?
